Yankees sign Randy Winn...what's that mean for Johnny Damon?

ESPN story saying that Johnny Damon's time with the Yanks probably just came to an end with this signing, and speculating where he might end up. Mentions Detroit and Cincinnati as targets for Damon and Scott Boras, with mention of Boras' past successes at placing guys in Detroit.

As for Damon, the Tigers have pretty much called his landing in Detroit cuckoo talk. Cincy might be a logical destination, as they have no LF of note and his skills might play well in the Great American Smallpark.

Maybe it’s the lawyer in me, but the precise thing the Tigers said about Damon was that they had not expressed an interest in him. That doesn’t necessarily mean that they aren’t interested in him, or that they won’t express an interest in him down the road.

The lawyer in me agrees with you.

I think they’d be stupid NOT to be interested in him—for the right price. As his options dwindle, it appears Detroit would probably give him the best chance to contend at this point.
