Lexus ad?

Not quite sure why an ad on this site just popped up for Lexus asking me to build my next car online. If I could even afford a Lexus (which I can’t), why the hell would I want to leave BYB to do that?

OK, show of hands, who here considers VD a good thing?

Granted, that perception probably changes when you’re in a relationship (although, I suppose one could whine about spending an inordinate amount of money on a Hallmark dictated weekend and forced romanticism, where one could get a lot more mileage (and far more credit!) by stretching that romantic effort out over a period of weeks, or months, even). But, a year removed from getting brutally dumped, I’m still looking at this unholy pink-tinged “holiday” with something approaching loathing, where, prior to that particular relationship, it had been an object of mere grumbling acceptance.

Official BYB Juju Consultant...now accepting rally creature applications!

by ahtrap on Feb 1, 2010 12:06 PM EST reply actions

I'll be honest here...

the VD you’re referring to is not the same reference that popped into my head when I first started reading.

With that said. I despise Valentines day because I always spend it alone and all I think about on that day is being alone.

With other holidays you can choose not to celebrate for any number of reasons. Valentines day is the only holiday where the qualification to celebrate is to be extra special to someone else. You don’t celebrate when no one finds you to be extra special.

I'm happy I wasnt the only person who thought that

I’ve always seen Valentines Day as a creation of card companies and florists, forced onto unsuspecting, innocent men.

I understand the attraction, but I just can't get the defensive shortcomings out of my head

Still, I suppose if we can get him as a one-year stopgap (and a reasonably inexpensive one), it wouldn’t be the worst thing in the world. Now that Verlander’s safely locked up, I feel more tolerant of Damon (I know those two things really have nothing to do with one another).

by SabreRoseTiger on Feb 4, 2010 8:34 PM EST up reply actions

he's middle of the pack essentially with his defense...

meaning he’s either as good or better than Guillen. His actual throwing arm could be something to worry about but I think his offensive ability as well as his ability to lead off make him a very attractive prospect…especially since nobody else wants him the price would be pretty damn cheap.

by madpoopz on Feb 4, 2010 9:00 PM EST up reply actions

Twins' lineup:

1. Span, CF
2. Hudson, 2B
3. Mauer, C
4. Morneau, 1B
5. Cuddyer, RF
6. Kubel, LF
7. Thome, DH
8. Hardy, SS
9. Harris, 3B

Let’s just hope their pitching is as bad as it seems on paper, because they’re definitely going to lead the Central in runs scored again.

This evening's discussion about the Tigers on TV made me think of this

It looks as thought they’re doing April in the D again. And this time they’re having a song contest (Link). Will the winner be better or worse than the Good Luck Joes? Any one of us could probably come up with something better than we’ve heard the past two years.

That means that I was at the game where the Big Hurt hit his last home run ever. It was off Armando Galarraga back in 2008 (It turned out to be a good game, though. Armando settled down after that, Miggy hit two home runs and had 4 RBIs, and Sheffield and Renteria also homered).

I have a hard time getting into the Olympics

I’m more interested in the sports than the human-interest stuff – and since it’s not widely broadcast anyway (NBC is hunting down and destroying anyone who wants to stream and I think they have exclusive rights) I usually keep forgetting about it.

I’ve gotten extremely used to seeing things when I want and how I want, instead of just accepting whatever a television station thinks should be of interest to me. Especially since sometimes I feel like the only woman on the continent pissed off by figure skating (to be more accurate, figure skating commentary – if they would just shut the heck up and let me listen to the music, THEN talk about the slips and trips and let me just enjoy it as a performance, like a dance or piece of music, I’d be less annoyed).

well ...

Beyond the constant refrain of “don’t get hurt don’t get hurt don’t get hurt don’t get hurt” that will be fun to watch – but that again assumes that I remember when it’s on. :)

I am kind of wondering just how horrible the NBC coverage will be, though – their NHL coverage sucks something awful, and with hockey being a second fiddle to ice dancing and figure skating and such, I wonder how much hockey they will actually broadcast other than the major countries. Also looking forward to yelling at my television every time they mangle another name – “Filppula” shouldn’t be that hard, for example, but some people can’t handle it.

fun fact

the RX bandits have been around since 1995 or so. I used to go see them play with other shitty third wave ska bands on weekends in high school. haha

*they're

on a side note the album I just bough of theirs came with a live dvd which made me like them all the more.

I haven't listened to them in years

spose I should give it a shot. they used to be called Pharmaceutical Bandits.. their sound then was very different from now, I am sure.

the first album I got was "Mandala"

very very good album. There singer has a very soulful voice. Not something often found in ska/punk music.

I am a music snob

but a random smattering of bands I like:

old: Stooges, MC5, Blue Cheer, Sonics, Black Flag, Dead Boys, Sun Ra, John Coltrane
old, but still active: Mudhoney, Supersuckers, Melvins, Sonic Youth, Willie Nelson
not really new, not really old: New Bomb Turks, Oblivians, Murder City Devils
newer: Demon’s Claws, Comets on Fire, Fucked Up

Yeah, I should probably stop now. I could do this for a while…

I finally got to sponsor a page on baseball-reference

it’s CJ Wilson’s. they haven’t approved my little sponsor’s message yet though. exciting, especially since I can actually send him a facebook message telling him about it.. which of course, I will do. because I am a dork.

yeah he's a cool guy

nice to know there are decent role model ballplayers out there that are willing to spend time talking to fans outside of the ballpark, and stuff.

I love the person who sponsors Nick Punto's page

This is what they say:

Follow along with the original M&M Boy and track a $4 million year of 240 foot pop-ups, missed sacrifice bunts, booted grounders and errant throws. Minnesota Twins! Get to know ‘em!

hahha

my blurb isn’t quite that amusing, but apparently I can change it throughout the year, so that’s fun.
