Anybody going to be in the Detroit area over the holidays? Last year a few of us got together for a nice long lunch in Mexicantown (thanks, Patty!) I'll be up from North Carolina and would love to get together with fellow BYBers. Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday (20 - 22) would probably work best. We can go back to Mexican Village (which was really really good). Or Patty, if it's just me and you, we can meet downriver! If you're interested, let me know in the comments and we'll work something out.

I probably won't be getting any days off that week besides christmas...
and I won’t know for sure til the week before, but if I can come I’m so there.
Having been a part of the prestigious crew last year,
I’d love to meet up again this year. I should be in the Detroit area from the 10th through the 23rd, so it lines up perfectly with what works best for you, NCDee.

I’m planning on being back for the holidays, but the family has decided that Christmas will be at my sister’s in Canton OH. I’ll be going through Detroit, though.

Don’t know if I’ll be back in Michigan that early. Will keep checking in, because I’d really like to make it this time around.
I'm expecting 100% improvement from the Lions this season.

I’d love to go but I work 2:30-10:30p at least, potentially 4:00p-12:00m that week. If it’s the earlier shift I’d love to join you already in progress.

Excellent margaritas, as I recall, and the beer is always good. So if you think you can come, please make a comment so we have a rough idea of how many seats we’ll need at the table.

That should work for lunch. As I recall the place wasn’t too crowded last year — midweek lunch just before a holiday should be easy.

I know Im one of the new ones on here, but dont really know anyone. But, that wouldnt stop from going down just to meet some of you folks. However, I cant make it. My schedule is such I wont be able to be in Detroit until after the holidays on 1/21/11.
However, I will stay glued to the website hoping that you’s are going to meet for a game or two this year. Kurt, Tigerdog1, Detroitchik, alikazoo, sabrerose, would like to meet some of yous at a game next summer. In the mean time, Merry Christmas, Happy New Year to all, and you all have a safe and happy holidays in your travels.

You should've seen them on the drive back from Toledo
A few of us took in an evening Mud Hens game on the 4th, and on I-75 going back north we saw no less than a dozen fireworks displays popping off. Ten o’clock seems to be the magic hour.

I see that on my way back from work on the fourth...
but I like being super duper close.
Baroque and I went to a loons game and during the fireworks show the cart that the fireworks were launching off of exploded. The whole stadium shook. It was amazing. I wish I had video. It was during the finally that it happened, but I don’t think that people ever intentionally blow up what I presume is an expensive cart.

The kids are off school that week and I really don’t have the time anyway. Do it again next year.
Sad I won't make it
One of these years, I’ll make it to the Christmas gathering. Work and a storm that is threatening my originally planned travel day of Tuesday makes getting to Detroit by noon on Wednesday a nonpossibility. Suckages.
