Placido Polanco started two double plays for the Phillies as their third baseman, MLB.com's Todd Zolecki reports. A little bit of "I told you so"? Well, probably not.

The Tigers had three hits. Rookies Austin Jackson and Scott Sizemore had two of them. I'm not sure you can read anything into that -- OK, I'm sure you can't, really -- but it's interesting none-the-less. Jeff Larish had the third hit. So that end of things was boring.

Pitching? Justin Verlander pitched four innings, gave up two runs and six hits. Joel Zumaya gave up a run.

Verlander is going to have a bad year, I guess, although we can console ourselves with the knowledge that Austin Jackson is gong to win ROTY, the batting title, and MVP.

far as I know teams only wear one hat style during spring training games

but that’s only as far as i’ve observed on tv and such, I’m sure someone can give a better answer

Someone asked Jason Beck that question in a mailbag segment a few years back

I believe he said that it’s for simplicity’s sake (since there’s a lot more people around during spring training).
