In case anyone hasn’t heard yet, Polanco sprained his knee yesterday so that’s why he’s not in the lineup.

Also note that the Tigers are using the DH while the Phillies are having their pitcher bat.

Watching the sprained knee play

shows why pitchers should catch their own popups.

by StringTheory on Mar 16, 2010 12:46 PM EDT up reply actions

Gotta love spring training.

Think they’ll let us do that in interleague play in the NL parks?

ok, so laird is batting fifth

that’s really odd. but hey, if he can keep his hitting up, i wouldn’t mind him that high in games.

Tigers go 1-2-3 in the first

Jackson flyout to LF
Damon groundout to 2B
Maggs flyout to RF

by SabreRoseTiger on Mar 16, 2010 1:12 PM EDT reply actions

Tigers go 1-2-3 in the top of the second

Wells flyout to RF
Laird lineout to LF
Inge flyout to deep CF (Victorino made it a little more exciting by taking a bad route)

by SabreRoseTiger on Mar 16, 2010 1:24 PM EDT reply actions

I believe it's actually "Domonic"

He’s (I believe) the Phillies top rated prospect since the Halladay guys departed.

by ChrisDTX on Mar 16, 2010 1:34 PM EDT up reply actions

"Demonic"

If he’s going to hit home runs off Verlander . . .

by rea on Mar 16, 2010 2:53 PM EDT up reply actions

Brown is the Phils #1 prospect. They kept him over Taylor the guy who when to Seattle (then Oakland) in the Roy Halladay Trade.

by rif23 on Mar 16, 2010 1:35 PM EDT up reply actions

I live in Philly, these people very, very high on him.

by rif23 on Mar 16, 2010 1:36 PM EDT reply actions

Think Boesch will hit another bomb today?

I picture him during BP acting like Happy Gilmore in the driving range scene: “50 bucks says I can hit it over the highway. Any takers?”

Yeah, but does he square up to the pitch in the batting cages to toughen himself up?

by Robocop on Mar 16, 2010 1:41 PM EDT up reply actions

Probably

On April 6th: “Only 364 more days until Opening Day!”

That was

A really good looking swing from Jackson

Oh Opie...

I wonder how many times I’ll cut-and-paste that phrase this season.

i liked the description of him in the yahoo free agent tracker

“still an excellent shortstop. still can barely hit his weight.”

Maybe he should gain some weight, eat bite-for-bite with Miggy-Cab.

I love these afternoon games...

I just sit on my lunch break and follow the game on the threads for an hour.

by SweetLouDoubleU on Mar 16, 2010 1:41 PM EDT reply actions

Looking at

Jackson standing next to Ryan Howard, Jackson is much bigger than I thought he was

by rif23 on Mar 16, 2010 1:43 PM EDT reply actions

Verlander

Midseason form. You’re doing it right.

by ChrisDTX on Mar 16, 2010 1:58 PM EDT reply actions

3 runs in 4 innings

I hope that number goes down by midseason - or early season, or even next spring start

by JerseyTigerFan on Mar 16, 2010 2:14 PM EDT up reply actions

Well, at the time of the post it made sense

Dewey also beat Truman, in case you haven’t heard.

by ChrisDTX on Mar 16, 2010 2:45 PM EDT up reply actions

Brown hits a "2-run HR"

(Technically, it wasn’t because some guy reached over the fence and caught it in his hat, but the umpire didn’t see that)

What I don’t get is that the way the ball left his bat, it looked like a pop-up

by SabreRoseTiger on Mar 16, 2010 2:14 PM EDT reply actions

Tigers go 1-2-3

Inge takes a called third strike
Larish grounds out to 2B
Sizemore grounds out to 3B

by SabreRoseTiger on Mar 16, 2010 2:20 PM EDT reply actions

Scored a hit

but I think he could’ve had it …… and I really think Brandon would have

by JerseyTigerFan on Mar 16, 2010 2:24 PM EDT reply actions

Brandon really is amazing in the field, most of the time.

by SweetLouDoubleU on Mar 16, 2010 2:25 PM EDT up reply actions

Well...

Back to work for me. Go Tigers!

by SweetLouDoubleU on Mar 16, 2010 2:26 PM EDT reply actions

Bottom 5th: Coke blows

Rollins doubles past Kelly
Victorino called out on strikes
Dobbs one-hops to Kelly, ground out
Howard walked by Coke
Ibanez walks
Brown RBI on infield single over Coke
Perry replaces Coke
Castro grounds out to Sizemore

by JerseyTigerFan on Mar 16, 2010 2:40 PM EDT reply actions

The Phillies have made a bunch of defensive changes, most of which I didn't pay attention to

Dewayne Wise (he of the Mark Buehrle perfect game fame) is in center, though

Danys Baez is pitching.

Greg Dobbs just robbed Everett of a hit

by SabreRoseTiger on Mar 16, 2010 2:44 PM EDT reply actions

Dammit Dobbs

Opie sucks enough on his own. He doesn’ t need your help.

by ChrisDTX on Mar 16, 2010 2:48 PM EDT up reply actions

Easy On Opie....

…..Or ya aint gona get no pie from aunt bea.

by BennieBladesFan on Mar 16, 2010 3:19 PM EDT up reply actions

Top 6th:

Everett grounds out to third, Dobbs makes another good play
Jackson’s on first (I don’t know how, went to get the mail)
Domonic Brown makes an uneccesary dive to get a Damon liner
Ordonez broken bat grounder to first.

by JerseyTigerFan on Mar 16, 2010 2:49 PM EDT reply actions

Gotta go....

… pick up the kids from school ….. Sabre, you can have the delayed play-by- play back.

GO TIGERS!!!

by JerseyTigerFan on Mar 16, 2010 2:53 PM EDT reply actions

We've already cut two catchers

I think Dan and Jim mentioned that there is a meeting on Thursday. More cuts will probably be made then.

by SabreRoseTiger on Mar 16, 2010 3:00 PM EDT up reply actions

Tigers do not score in the 7th

Wells K
Laird walk
Kelly flyout to deep LF
Larish single
