Jays Release Casey Fien

Come on, DD, bring Casey back!   Minor league contract, or whatever.  The kid has good command and control.

Star-divide

From mlbtr:

The Blue Jays released pitcher Casey Fien, tweets MLB.com's Jordan Bastian. The poor guy has already bounced from the Tigers to the Red Sox to the Jays this winter. Bastian's colleague Jason Beck chronicled Fien's travels ten days ago.

Fien, 26, posted a 3.41 ERA, 10.2 K/9, and 2.3 BB/9 in 58 Triple A relief innings last year. He struggled in 11.3 big league frames, which marked his Major League debut. Baseball America ranked Fien 27th among Tigers prospects, writing that he "profiles as a middle reliever." Still, his minor league command is intriguing.

it's not like he'd be back to play in the Majors...

He’d basically be a system guy and maybe prove himself a worthy asset. We know that he’s a good minor league pitcher who’ll help bring success to our affiliates. At the same time he might translate into some Major League talent or be a useful piece for some sort of trade.

At any rate it really doesn’t hurt us at all to sign him.

Poor guy can’t catch a break.

The guy has decent to good minor league numbers, but he kinda hit a brick wall in his trips to the majors…
I would like to have him back on a minor league contract though.
But still, poor guy… He’s not bad enough to be released THIS many times.

They’re a smart club…

I'm actually liking some of these guys that are coming up.

There may be some serviceable folks down on the farm.
