I make no promises for updates

Since I won’t know who any of these people are or what they’re position they’re playing, and I’m sure the Braves announcers will be no help.

by NCDee on Mar 19, 2010 6:10 PM EDT reply actions

End of first

Braves 2, Tigers 0. Bonderman gave up a couple doubles, got a K. Lots of doofus plays in the outfield (I’m looking at you, Ryan Raburn). It’s definitely the “H” team out there.

by NCDee on Mar 19, 2010 6:23 PM EDT reply actions

Hey! Johnny Damon's playing!

And he pops up on the first pitch!

by NCDee on Mar 19, 2010 6:48 PM EDT reply actions

but I thought

I thought Raburn’s middle name was doofus. . .

I shouldn’t say that, I actually like the guy

flipped on the hockey game at 4-2

And see it go quickly to 4-4.

I’m getting impatient for real baseball, with starting pitchers playing enough to matter and lineups with names I can recognize. ;)

Braves announcers say it should be an Error

and no RBI on the infield grounder
Either way, it’s tied up at 2- 2

by Tigerdog1 on Mar 19, 2010 7:07 PM EDT up reply actions

Officially an Error

and Opie’s average drops even farther

by Tigerdog1 on Mar 19, 2010 7:10 PM EDT reply actions

and can we compare that with everyday things?

i know it's spring training

but with some of the shortstops we’re seeing from our prospects being decent, he had better hit or he’ll be released.

Figaro

Gives up a lead off single, then settles down and retires the side, with one K.

Well,

I guess his power hasn’t gone away after all.

Just turned it on, saw hockey, and watched until it was tied – didn’t even know who you were cheering for! :)

Update

Schlereth gives up a hit and a BB but strands them and gets out of it. One K.
A base hit by Frazier, double by Raburn that would have easily scored him, but is held up at third. Don’t know if that was Lamont, but sure sounds like him. Wells with a base knock to drive in Frazier. 4- 3 Tigers.

by Tigerdog1 on Mar 19, 2010 8:13 PM EDT reply actions

Rainwater

gives up a hit to Omar Infante, another off his leg with two outs, then retires the side
Still 4- 3 Tigers in the 7th

is this the first time rainwater has pitched before the ninth for us?

Yes. Tigs lost to the Yankers earlier, 6- 2

Porcello gave up three unearned runs due to a fielding error by Santiago with the bases loaded and two outs in the second, then a HR to A Roid.

by Tigerdog1 on Mar 19, 2010 8:31 PM EDT reply actions

The Yankees announcers

were talking about the game about an hour ago and claimed the A Roid homer probably still hadn’t come down? Was it truly monstrous, or another case of seeing the world through Yankee-colored glasses?

by Dale S on Mar 19, 2010 8:32 PM EDT up reply actions

Donnie Kelly

Still in at third base, picks up a base knock for the Tigers’ 10th hit today
Wells in LF for Damon
Boesch in RF for Magglio
Strieby in at 1B for Larish
Diaz in for Avila
Douglas in at 2B for Sizemore
Guez PH for Bondo
Frazier PH for Schlereth

by Tigerdog1 on Mar 19, 2010 8:33 PM EDT reply actions

Ha ha, radio announcers

just claimed that in some game last year “for the first time ever, three Japanese pitchers pitched at the same time.” Now that’s a split-squad game.

Think they can finish this in the next 20 minutes?

The grocery store is closing at 9 and all I have is old tortillas.

by Dale S on Mar 19, 2010 8:38 PM EDT reply actions

Finished the cabbage for lunch.

There were great cabbage sales last week, I should have bought more.

cabbage lost to lettuce as the go-to vegetable. It is infinitely superior!

And the announcers seem to think they are on CNN. Wonk, wonk, wonk…

Extra innings

Bravos leave the bases loaded in the bottom of the ninth.
Tiger lineup
CF Raburn
LF Wells
RF Boesch
1B Strieby
C- Diaz
3B Kelly
2B Douglas the goat
SS Ciriaco
RP Weinhardt

by Tigerdog1 on Mar 19, 2010 9:09 PM EDT reply actions

Another error

on a wild throw to first, but is erased on a DP ball.
Weinhardt still in the game throwing one grounder after another.

by Tigerdog1 on Mar 19, 2010 9:17 PM EDT reply actions

Try saying

“righty Weinhardt” 3 times fast

by Dale S on Mar 19, 2010 9:18 PM EDT reply actions

Is Selig in the stands???

Tie game.

Robbie Weinhardt pitches another inning, giving up a hit, but retiring the side, and the game is called in a 4- 4 tie after 10 innings.

by Tigerdog1 on Mar 19, 2010 9:22 PM EDT reply actions

Weinhardt

despite being pinned with a blown save, on a run that scored because Douglas flubbed a DP ball, I like Robbie not only for a roster spot, but in one of the two late inning jobs that they have available.
