ask and you shall recieve...

March 4, 2010 – LAKELAND, FL – Outrage broke out today as PETA gathered together to protest the inhumane slaughtering of nearly a dozen infield worms. Here in Lakeland, Florida, spring training was the focus as these worms were “brutally murdered” or so says Peter Nofur.

“Its not even fair, man”, an outraged Nofur said “There’s like, no way that they should be tortured by this kind of abuse! Its just totally ground ball after ground ball, and all the worms are just getting rolled on, man”

Rolled on indeed. And as for responsibility, there is no one more responsible for this abomination than the young pitcher Rick “Fred-Fred” Porcello. He, for one, seems oblivious to the pain he has caused.

As Porcello said, “What? The worms? Where?” After checking his shoes, Porcello had to be escorted off the Joker Merchant field by Lakeland Security after having piles of wet dirt thrown at him by Nofur and the PETA faithful.

No matter how the rest of the game plays out, rocky times are inevitable for the PETA supporters, as they will surely have to suffer for years while “Kid Rick” continues his ground-ball inducing dominance. As commentator Rod Allen stated in a passionate interview: “His stuff’s jus plain dirty! Dirty dirty dirty!”.

No matter how “dirty” Porcello’s pitching may be, he may be inclined to remember the ones who live beneath the dirt, as well.

So, uh, how interrelated are gameday audio, and mlb tv?

If I were to start out with the audio package, can I upgrade to the TV later, and have the initial payment count towards that purchase?

What kind of delay is there between the Audio and real time? Is it a case where you’re always a minute behind the action?

Is the MLB.TV really worth it? Is the premium worth the extra 20 bucks?

Inquiring minds will eventually buy something, question of whether I’d get value out of the deal if I went whole hog…

The biggest problem with Premium (HD) MLB.TV last year for me

Was that it’s about 20 seconds behind. It’s not behind at all if you play it in regular def.

Fortunately, I graduate in May and I’ll be workin’ in the D so I only have to put up with this for a month!

by rcpratt on Mar 4, 2010 2:46 PM EST up reply actions

To answer

1) you can upgrade from audio to TV later and have the inital payment count.
2) The only delays I remember are if you use the NEX DEF viewer — and it was like five ptiches back. Never really used it
3) Big difference with the premium is you get to see Mario and Rod (or any home OR away announcers) That was worth it for me.
4) Since I don’t have cable, this is my only baseball outlet. BUT Before you buy, check out which teams are blacked out in your location.

by NCDee on Mar 4, 2010 2:47 PM EST up reply actions

I get Premium even though I live in the Tigers' market

a) Sometimes I like to watch the game again, or check out what the opposing broadcasters thought (depending on who they are)

b) I like watching some other teams too

not in the game

he’s making bad choices, and not trusting his pitches, not a good sign

feel kinda bad for Fien

just saw he was claimed from the Sox by the Jays today. Could be suiting up against his former squad right now haha. Shows other teams see the potential in him though

Nuñez groundout to 2B

For what it’s worth, they have mentioned that the strike zone seems really tight today

I don't work on that day, but I have a big paper due

And since the game is not until 4:10, I’ll be out of class before the game starts

Switched over to Gameday Audio

Don Kelly’s on first. Don’t ask me how he got there

Austin Jackson is off to a nice start

He’s 2 for 3 with 3 walks and a .866 OBP

I think leading off is going to be very good for him. In the 1st inning it usually takes the starting pitcher a few real pitches to get fully synchronized. That lead-off hitter is more likely to get a hitter’s count in his 1st AB than anyone else in the batting order.
