When does Willis throw again? I guess we’re at the point now where SP’s go as long as they can now…

dunno
sometimes Beck posts a list of other pitchers scheduled to go but he hasn’t today

This has probably already been asked
but is there a way to watch ST games without (a) going to Lakeland or (b) paying a billion dollars for MLB TV?
Check out Detroit4Lyfe
FSD will broadcast a few starting next week
and I think 2 of them will be on ESPN.
as for “other” ways to watch, I don’t know

Other pitchers
According to this morning’s game notes:
Tigers: Willis, Coke, Zumaya, Thomas
Braves: Mike Dunn, Jo Jo Reyes, Stephen Marek, Lee Hyde, Eric Cordier
oh jeez there's game notes for spring training?
I checked sometime last week and didn’t see any so I assumed they weren’t posting them. cool

Thanks!
I’m interested to see how Dontrelle looks after a week to reflect on a pretty good outing…

interesting from the game notes
CASEY CROSBY will be joining the Tigers for today’s game… WF where you at?
He is not mentioned in the pitching rotation but joining the club, anyone care to explain why he would be “joining the club” for this game? General love for the Bravos? Better seats to see Maxamillion’s eyes?

Coke
I’m wondering how seriously Dave and Jim are still considering having Coke be a starter… it’s very early in spring, but he looks much more effective than any of the other candidates for the #4 or #5 spots. I would love to see how he fares over 5 innings.
But if Willis figures it out, having Willis and Robertson at the back end of the rotation could be fun.

fun
hmmm. as much as i like to rag on Willis, you’re right, that would be great if he found the magic fairy dust and everything got better again. However, the ghost of Blass says probably not.
Willis and Coke after Robertson and Mando.....
……All for guys going after 1 starting pitching spot on back to back days
Apropos of nothing
but exactly what in the holy hell is Russell Coltrane Martin doing in the photo on the right sidebar? It looks like he’s the catcher’s bodyguard, nobly jumping in front of a bullet.
Infante then gets tagged out rounding the base too far
I think. It got confusing

Hey, I have to take my cues from Kurt, DDBB, and the rest of the BYBers who know more about Scherzer than I do
If they say he’s gonna be good, I have to take their word for it. The only observation I had about Scherzer from watching D’Backs games is that he had trouble getting deep into games.

you know, other than the fact that they can't pronounce single syllable words
I like these ATL announcers. At least they describe the game and it’s easier to follow than when Jim starts meandering.

What's really a pain
is that the sandwich wasn’t even that good. And it apparently ruined Max Scherzer’s mojo. Bad Subway!
here's my thingking
since starting pitchers go 7+ innings in the real season, and only are going a couple here, and our buddy Fu is a situational guy that should only go a couple of batters in the real season, then he should only be going about half a batter in spring training. He’s way over his pitch count!!
Have we been able to determine why
Matt Diaz is pronounced “Die As”, as opposed to “Dee As” like everyone else? What is he, some sort of asshole?
I actually know
They told the story once when the Tigers were playing the Braves. Apparently his great-grandfather was an immigrant from Spain, and the people he worked for pronounced his name wrong, so he just changed the pronounciation

oh one more question… Does MLB audio online also have local blackouts like MLB.TV???
I was thinking of buying mlb.tv so i could watch while at work and school, but then i realized that I WOULDNT BE ABLE TO SEE ANY TIGERS GAMES??? what a rip…
So, is mlb audio the same way??? I live right in the metro area….

I still like Infante
I have had a love affair with 2nd baseman for the Tigers since i was a kid… Started with Lou and then went to Fryman, then Infante, then Polanco… I guess Sizemore will be my new Tiger…
I seem to have a thing for catchers
Although currently my favorite Tiger is Verlander

but the box score and this thread will have to do when sitting here in class
haha i guess it wont
when they do get on tv Ill probably just skip… its only art history. Just want to see some live game action
yup, already plan on skipping next Monday
and Opening Day as well. Its a straight from the book class so luckily I can learn it all on my own
I'm out of class by the time the game starts on Opening Day
Unfortunately, I have an exam at 12:30 on the day of the home opener, so I can’t skip that.

Braves 8, Tigers 1
Braves 8, Tigers 1
After the second inning.
Scherzer gives up 5 runs, all earned, on four hits (including a two run homer to uber-prospect Jason Heyward) and 3 BB’s with no K’s in only a third of an inning before being pulled. That’s his second rocky performance in two tries, but still early to be alarmed.
Ni follows getting 1.2 innings in, giving up 3 more runs, on 3 hits and another BB with one K. That’s a bit longer than Ni would normally pitch, but I’m sure that his stay on the hill was extended so JL could keep everyone’s work regimen in tact.
Kelly has committed a throwing error playing 3B for the Tigers.
Jeff Larish has driven in the only Tiger run, scoring Pacman on a base hit. Cabrera has a hit for Detroit.
Al’s kid has drawn a BB, and Sizemore has hit into a DP.
Pacman = Santiago
Clete Thomas = Cletus

Went to the game.. Just got back to the hotel
Overall, a pretty poor performance across the board in my book. Though the highlights of the day were definitely Dontrelle’s performance. Got a well deserved standing ovation from the Tiger faithful after a quick inning. Also, the hype about Heyward is real. He hit a monster shot in the first. Guy looks to be a real 5 tool player. Bad performance from Casey Crosby. Boesch struck out multiple times and didn’t look that great, but Nunez made some great plays at short, which was promising.
