i mentioned it a while ago
but isn’t that just a rotten AB in spring training? Don’t get to show the skipper that you can hit, don’t get to show that you have a good eye at the plate, just get a nasty bruise and a no-time-at-bat. Unless you’re Opie, then anything other than a flyout to an infielder is a positive.
i'll even take a stikeout
because at least then if someone is on base they have a chance to steal said base

while i understand he's a good teammate
i would take a guy who commits a few errors and hits at least .250 over a guy that, more times than not, is out #3 and can barely hit his literal weight.

lets just say

Unless we suck something awful this year, I think they will let it go.
Anyone know what the smoking situation at CoPa will be?
Maybe they’ll just herd everyone out onto the street like at Olds…er, Thomas M. Cooley JD Factory Field.
Also, the solution for Jim may not be to go further into hiding but to smoke on the top step of the dugout. The laws will have to be scrutinized.
I didn’t think they were allowed to bring the Xbox out to the dugout.

I'm guessing most of us are listening to Tigers-Braves
Instead of the Tigers Mud Hens against the Astros. All I know about Ryan Kechner is that he pitched for the Mud Hens last year and that he’s deaf.
Why burn them up in ST?
He is doing a excellent job of not wasting any of the finite number of hits he’ll get this year.

I'm ok with the updates
as long as it doesn’t turn into a giant “we should have kept him here” debate and subsequent bashing of every trade/extension DD has ever made.
You are allowed to play
the “should have kept him” card if that was your position from the outset. No changing your mind when a guy has success elsewhere though.
by ChrisDTX on Apr 1, 2010 2:46 PM EDT via mobile up reply actions
I understand you're allowed to
I just hope it doesn’t turn the game threads into what the last couple days’ comments have been. People were practically at each others’ throats around here.
My posistion from the outset
was to be comfortably on the fence. As part of that position I will waver in both directions, depending on how Nate is pitching. My position will also be to play devil’s advocate as much as possible.
Matt Joyce will reportedly start the year on the DL
Jarrod Washburn possibly deciding between Mariners and Royals.
Those are the only ex-Tiger updates I have for now.
I met Matt in Tampa
Ryas swept Tigers and after the last game, LL Cool J performed and their were fireworks and Matt came in the stands to sit with his family. Nice guy.

Tigers trade Zumaya for Heath Bell
According to a report in the San Diego Tribune, the Tigers have traded
Pitchers Joel Zumaya, Brad Thomas, and Cody Satterwhite to San Diego for
Reliever Heath Bell.
In 2006, Zumaya electrified crowds with his fastball, often reaching triple digits on the radar.
Last season, Bell led the National League with 42 saves.
Fred Higgins of the Tribune posted on twitter that the Padres
Offered Bell a two year contract extension, which was rejected, leading to the trade.
Other sources close to the Padres have been unable to confirm the report.
Lefty starter Nate Robertson was dealt by the Tigers to Florida on Monday.
