Erie SeaWolves surprise
According to Nick Underhill, Wilkin Ramirez will man LF in Erie, and Audy Ciriaco will play 3B with Cale Iorg at SS. I'm surprised to see Wilkin in Erie. He never put up great numbers at AAA, but he wasn't terribly overmatched either. Moving Ciriaco to 3B seems a little puzzling, since it seemed that the Tigs were higher on him than they were on Cale Iorg.

Not Surprising Really....
…..most of the best talent plays at the AA level nowadays…..He will go against better talent at that level.
I think...
… that moving Audy Ciriaco to third has less to do with Cale Iorg and more to do with Audy Ciriaco’s defense and the Tiger’s belief that Brent Dlugach might be the starting shortstop in Detroit next year.
As for Wilkin Ramirez, I feel like he’s been spinning his wheels for two seasons now, though he is only 24. And while there may be more talent traditionally at the AA level, it would still be a tough pill to swallow if I were him.
Where is Randy Smith when you need him?
Beck has updated his blog...
Dombrowski confirmed Wilkin Ramirez is going to Erie, but will play CF full-time.
Still, this does not bode well for Ramirez’s status as an OF prospect. It looks as if, in the eyes of the Tigers, he’s been passed by Casper Wells, Ryan Strieby, Brennan Boesch, and Clete Thomas.

I'd say
That they’re trying to get him working on his plate discipline, and it doesn’t really matter if he does so at AA or AAA, except at the margins. He has probably been passed up though, and I wouldn’t be surprised to see him dealt.

Deal him?
That’s fine, he was never a guy I was really very excited about.
I propose the Tigers pay 96% of his salary, and deal him to Florida for a LOOGY.

CF?
Yikes. He’s athletic, but not centerfielder material…

Surprised yet not...
DD and co. haven’t given up on Iorg just yet…
He would fail miserably at AAA and neede more time in AA.
Ciriaco was not very good defensively at SS, and moving him to 3rd (an area he was manning in ST) is no real surprise.
Nunez was deemed the SS of the future, and Ciriaco’s move to 3rd establises that even more.
