What's more interesting? Brennan Boesch both hit a home run and had a stolen base -- or Armando Galarraga strikes out six and walks just one in six innings on the mound in picking up the win? Galarraga is up to 12 strikeouts to one walk in 11-1/3 innings in Triple-A this year. Jay Sborz got the save. Second baseman Will Rhymes and shortstop Brent Dlugach both had two hits and a double.
Poor Seawolves. Finally they score some runs and then they give up a ton. Actually it was a 6-5 game heading into the ninth inning. Jared Gayhart got lit up and Luis Marte didn't help the matter. Andy Dirks hit a triple and a home run. Wilkin Ramirez went 2-for-5 with a homer and three RBI.
SP Duane Below left after 2/3 of an inning after giving up just a walk and a hit. I'm currently trying to find out if he was pulled due to injury and will update when I know more.
Update: Below isn't injured, SeaWolves.com's Nick Underhill reports. They just chose to pull him for performance reasons.
Third baseman Bryan pounds had three hits and shortstop Gustavo Nunez two. SP Brayan Villarreal had nine strikeouts and a walk in 5-1/3 innings in the win. In 9-1/3 innings, he has 17(!) strikeouts and a walk. Wow.
Bowling Green 2, West Michigan 1
Jake Turner made his second start for the Whitecaps. This time, four innings, a run, four strikeouts, five hits allowed. However he got no decision. Wade Gaynor had two hits for WM.
