I first got exposed to hockey down here
Family liked the Tigers but the Wings… not so much. I just started watching on a whim after 2002, and caught some of the Cup run in 2006. Jumped on the bandwagon in 2007, and the 2009 postseason run helped me out of a dark place. So I’m pretty into it now. Couldn’t name many players in the rest of the league, but I love my Canes.

My brother lives in Raleigh and says the Canes fans are rowdy and legit. I went to a game there in 2002 and it was pretty wild – I’d probably be a fan of the ‘canes too if I lived there (and didn’t have the Wings).

When I was a kid, we didn't get cable at my house.
Three channels came in, one of them was CBC, so my formulative years were spent watching Hockey Night in Canada. I needed a favorite team, so in my youthful foolishness, I chose the Quebec Nordiques. I stuck with them after their move. You can probably guess how well that went for me when I was in school ‘96-’01. I was NOT popular.

LaRose, Samsonov, Cole, BrindAmour? These were not good players- Sergei was okay, but we signed LaRose after a career year, Cole because we wanted to reminisce about the past (he’s not the same f*cking player he was before his injury- again, f*ck the Pens) and Brindy is just old.
Not to mention we rolled with pretty much four defensemen- and Pitkanen/Gleason/Corvo/Carson, while good, isn’t exactly shutdown. The Ward injury (and the Staal injury early) were just a garnish on the giant, steaming shit sandwich that was this season.
