MLM Weekend Recap: Jacob Turner goes 5.1 strong with 7 K's

Alfredo Figaro wasn't as sharp as he has been in the past- he went 6 innings and gave up 5 runs, 4 earned on 5 hits and 4 walks with 4 strikeouts. Robbie Weinhardt wasn't his sharpest either- 3 innings with 2 hits and a walk surrendered. Ryan Raburn and Jeff Frazier went 2-4 with a double.
Brooks Brown went 5 no-hit innings, walking 2 and striking out 5. It was a spot-start, so Ramon Garcia did 2 innings, giving up 2 hits and 2 strikeouts. Justin Henry was 3-4 with 2 doubles, Michael Bertram was 2-3 with a walk and Josh Burrus was 2-4 with a double.
Luke Putkonen went 7.2 innings letting up no runs on 4 hits and 1 walk with 3 strikeouts. Kody Kaiser was 3-4.
A: South Bend 6, West Michigan 5
Jacob Turner went 5.1 innings, giving up 2 earned runs on 4 hits, a walk and 7 strikeouts. Jamie Johnson, Michael Rockett, Wade Gaynor and Mike Gosse were all 2-4, and Hernan Perez was 2-4 with a double.
Phil Dumatrait went 6 innings, giving up 3 runs (one earned) on 3 hits and 2 walks with 3 strikeouts. Dan Schlereth went 2 innings, giving up 2 hits and striking out 3, while Jay Sborz went one inning with a hit and a strikeout. Ryan Raburn was 3-4 with 2 doubles (clearly steamed about his demotion) and Jeff Larish went 2-4 with 2 doubles.
Jon Kibler was pretty bad- 6 runs (5 earned) on 9 hits (and a homer) with 3 strikeouts. Brendan Wise went 1.2 hitless innings, walking 1 and striking out 3. Cale Iorg was 1-4 with a walk, Wilkin Ramirez was 2-5 with a triple and a homer and Justin Henry was 2-3 with a double.
Charlie Furbush went 7 innings, giving up no runs on 2 hits and 9 strikeouts with no walks. Shame the bullpen blew it- Tyler Conn caught the loss, going two innings on one run, a hit and a walk. Kody Kaiser was 2-5 with a triple, Rawley Bishop was 2-5 with a double and Alden Carrithers was 2-6 with a double.
A: West Michigan 3, South Bend 1
Trevor Feeney ate all 9 innings, giving up one run on 6 hits, a walk and 7 strikeouts. Avisail Garcia was 1-4 with a home run.

Could you give us record/standings updates
in the Monday MLM posts? I know I can just as easily look at the box score, but seeing where we are on a week-to-week basis would be cool.

Jacob Turner makes his home debut
I went to the Whitecaps game Sunday…..a great day for baseball. Jacob looked great. He pitched a shutout until the top of the sixth. He left with one run in and a man on base scored later. I hope he stays at West Michigan the entire year like Maybin did, but I have a feeling he’ll be moving up sooner rather than later. His next start should be Saturday night. Here’s a recap of the game:
