Austin Jackson apparently OK after being hit in the head
Just a quick follow-up on the condition of Austin Jackson, who was hit in the head by a pitch of the Dodgers' Ramon Troncoso on Saturday night.
The Freep's John Lowe reports on Twitter:
Leyland said he spoke to Jackson and he seemed OK. Jackson was sent to a local hospital to be sure.
#Tigers Austin Jackson taken to local hospital for precautionary tests, but sounds like he's ok. Teammates say he was talking in clubhouse.
Jackson will not be playing Sunday.

Porcello knows the drill. No one hurt, just make the point. Then win.

Did the right thing by going to the bullpen immediately. There’s no need for anyone to make a “point” in this case.

it wasn’t head hunting, there’s no reason to go head hunting.

That's not the "point" being made...
In baseball, retribution is necessary. It keeps everything honest. The Dodgers have to pitch with the boundaries fresh in their minds. All we’re doing is re-introducing them to the reality.
Don’t throw at anyone’s head, just plunk ’em and be done.

The Tigers took it as an accident, a pitch that just got too far inside.
“You had a guy throwing pretty good, and it was pretty tough to see at that time of the day,” Leyland said. “It’s just one of those unfortunate things. They happen. It’s all part of the game.”
Agree...
…Pitchers have to throw inside or they get hit around….Sucks that it happened but no way it was on purpose.
