I doubt if the birth of a child qualifies as “bereavement” for the father, but maybe losing Cabrera for two days qualifies as a bereavement for his manager!

Could be that AJax and Cabrera are both out of the lineup. If so, we may see a switcheroo- subtracting a pitcher and calling up a position player. Can’t be Wells because he has to be down for ten days unless someone hits the DL.

Here’s a thought. Galarraga would miss one start if he was sent down for ten days, after which time they could recall AG or Mad Max. No extra option is used because they’ve already optioned AG, and the four others in the rotation could pitch on one day’s extra rest because of the two days off. In the interim, call up Strieby, Dlugach, or Wilkin.
