Carlos Guillen returns tonight; Danny Worth optioned
As has been noted earlier, Carlos Guillen has made his return from the disabled list today. Danny Worth was optioned to Triple-A Toledo to make room.
Guillen will be batting sixth in the lineup, giving the Tigers their best sixth batter in ages, I think it's safe to say. And he'll be playing second base.
That should be interesting.
Guillen went 6-for-18 with a home run and three doubles in his short string with the Mud Hens. So he's continuing to hit well and succeeding on the basepaths, anyway.
Worth had a successful MLB debut with the Tigers and proved he will continue to be in the conversation down the line.

Kurt,
Any stats or info at all about how Carlos did in the field while in Toledo? Any E’s, how many chances, how’d he look turning the DP?
The numbers
Carlos was 19-for-19 in fielding chances at Toledo in his rehab stint, and helped turn 3 double plays. SSS, I know.
Over the course of his minor league career at 2B, he is 131-for-133 in fielding chances, with 19 double plays. Not bad numbers, but not very relevant, either, given that he hasn’t played there in a long time before recently.
In 99.0 innings of MLB at 2B, he was a perfect 56-for-56 in fielding chances, with 10 double plays. So while it has been awhile, we at least know that Young Carlos seemed to know how to play the position.

Yes
I had both Guillen and Granderson in a fantasy league. Also Brett Anderson, who is starting tomorrow (and coming off the DL).

Oakland's mantra this weekend?
GO FOR THE KNEES
Ok, not really. Here’s to hoping his knees hold up. Happy to have that bat back in the lineup but I’m approaching the positional change with cautious optimism.
(sigh)
I was hoping it would be that “Donny” Worth fella who got shipped down.

Who wants to start the pool...
…guessing the next time Guillen goes on the DL?
I'm owner/editor of The Wayne Fontes Experience a deputy editor at Bless You Boys and co-host The Knee Jerks podcast.
I give Guillen
2 weeks playing 2nd, and that’s being generous.

We need to have like a wager pool
Like everybody puts in a buck or two to guess the timeframe and the injury, and the winner gets a shirt from the BYB store.
