MLM Recap: Duane Below pitches 5, leads Erie to victory
Again, my hometown team wins at the expense of the Mudhens. Alfredo Figaro gave up 4 earned runs over 6.2 innings. He gave up 8 hits, a walk and struck out 4. Will Rhymes was 3-3 with a walk, and Jeff Larish, Jeff Frazier and Danny Worth all doubled.
Duane Below only let up 2 hits over 5 innings. Unfortunately, one was a homer which led to the earned run. But he struck out 4 and walked none, so it was a pretty good start. Cesar Nicolas was 2-4 with 2 doubles, Max St Pierre was 1-4 with a home run and Cale Iorg walked (I'm mentioning it every time).
Brayan Villarreal didn't pitch badly today- 2 earned over 5 innings on 6 hits and 2 walks with 4 strikeouts. But the offense wasn't quite enough. Nobody had an extra base hit, but Chao-Ting Tang and Rawley Bishop went 2-4 and Alden Carrithers went 2-5.
A: South Bend 6, West Michigan 5
Giovany Soto went 6, giving up 2 runs on 7 hits (including a homer) and 2 walks, striking out 5. Alexis Espinosa was 4-4 with 2 doubles and Avisail Garcia was 4-5.
