Spaaaaaaaaaaaaaan!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Final - 6.29.2010 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 R

Minnesota Twins 2 0 1 2 5 0 1 0 X 11

Sometimes it's best just to cede the stage to your superiors.

Big Al, in a tweet:

Well that sucked.

Indeed.

The Twins hit Armando Galarraga early and often -- especially Denard Span, who opened the game with a triple. Then he hit another off Galarraga. Then yet another off Fu-Te Ni in the fifth inning. Four at-bats, three triples and a single. Wow.

So Galarraga didn't make it out of the fifth; Ni didn't make it out of the fifth and the game was over by the end of ... the six. No, just kidding. The fifth, when the Twins led 10-3.

If you're looking for something positive to take away from the game, Johnny Damon had two hits and two RBI. He's been slumping for half of June so maybe that will get him started back in the right direction.

And that's about it. First-place is on the line again in the afternoon as the teams wrap up the series.

Just say No to Ni

God he has been awful lately… And I think Maggs in RF was a poor choice with his oblique and all, but hey, I’ll get back to my armchair quarterbacking

Agree

I think this is time to say no more to 3 leftys in the pen, if Ni is going to come out spewing gas on the fire. I would be more than happy to see him go to Toledo for Perry to come back after his rehab assignment.

In his defense

He did decently against the lefties- a K to Morneau, a BB to Kubel. a K to Thome and a triple to Span. Not horrible.

I agree

What’s there to like about Denard Span? Hell, he’d even hit his own mother with a foul ball if he had the chance.

Denard is a stupid name

I had to mute the TV last night

after he made the nice defensive play because Rod and Mario wouldn’t shut up about it. I’m taking more of a “blind squirrel finds nut” approach.

The Tigers Got Kicked Again by the Homeplate Umpire

Nick Punto Struck-out looking in the fourth, or should have says Foxtracks!!! Punto walks and the flood gates opened!! The Twins have walked more than any team ain MLB and have given up less walks than any team in MLB to the tune of 296 walks for and only 163 given up!!! If the Tiger had the same latitude in the strikezone they would be fifteen games ahead of the Twins in the standings and it would be 1984 all over again!!! Those numbers are ridiculous when you figure the Twins get a solid 1.73 extra base runners a game over the teams they play!!! Not to mention the times like last night when an inning should have ended on a call third srike and was continued!! Case in point the Twins strikeout numbers this season. The Twins have been rung up 457 times to 496 strikeouts for thier light throwing staff. Personally I think the fix is in this season.

It was a borderline call that could have gone either way.

That’s going to happen and we have to work around it better.

Borderline Calls Seem To Go Against The Tigers Always and For the Twins Always!!

The Numbers are my Proof:
I am a statistician and the statistical data is way over the statistical norm!!

What am I missing?

Someone help me because I must be missing something. Everything I have heard and read in the last month states that Daniel Schlereth has been nothing less than sensational in Toledo. Yet, we lose Zumaya for the season and call up CASEY FEIN? Just say NO to Ni continues to struggle and stays with the team. Help me, as George Costanza once said
“He’s beboppin’ and scattin’, and I’M LOSING IT!”

Fien has been pretty good.

I believe Schlereth is walking way, way too many. I’d like to see him come up for Ni, though. I think they may just be waiting for Perry to be ready to send Ni down, unfortunately.

Casey Fein has been just as good

And Daniel Schlereth walks too many guys.
