Fu-Te Ni is a Mud Hen
The move was announced after today's loss to those damned Twins.
The much-pondered question of what the Tigers would do with Fu-Te Ni got an answer Wednesday afternoon, when he was optioned to Triple-A Toledo postgame. No return move was immediately announced, but the first candidate you probably thought of isn't the guy. Leyland said Ryan Perry would not be the guy coming up.
Ni had been a gas can in his recent outings, so his demotion isn't surprising.
Feel free to start guessing who gets the call up on Friday!

Mark Prior Had A Tryout Today.
Maybe we will sign Mr prior for cheap and he takes Ni spot?

I kind of love this idea.
I mean, he’s got to be willing to try the Kerry Wood career path at some point, right?
Although, I’d say that he’d really be taking Zumaya’s spot, being right-handed and hard-throwing and injury prone and all.
I think he’ll take any chance to start over a relief position, but if noone’s willing to give him that (and frankly, they shouldn’t), maybe he’d come cheap.
I don't want to hear any weak sh*t from Jason Grilli.

Someone will give him a shot.
hes 29 and I think if he pitches well at his open tryout someone will give him a one year contract.

but it's the only thing he comments on
and he’s convinced that there’s a MLB-wide conspiracy favoring the Twins. To occasionally complain is one thing (especially after that Atlanta game) but when it’s the only thing you say, it gets old fast.

if robbie had actually faced triple A batters any time over the last month
I’d say him. but maybe..

A Ni replacement
A trade is possibly in the works here – otherwise Schlereth would have been the announced call up right away
If they had a short list of five guys, Schlereth shouldn't be on it
A 1.65 WHIP is just too high. He needs to find the plate before he finds his way to the majors.
I hope the trade is for Kevin Milwood
Is that too much to ask?

with a 5.00 + ERA.. I’d rather call up a MudHen than repeat the Washburn deal

not necessarily
they didn’t announce Oliver’s callup right away either.
They could be doing anything from making up their mind to filing paperwork on 60-day DL and adding someone to the 40-man roster to just taking the day off to announce it Friday to give us internet folk a chance to talk about something (for that we’re thankful).

Ya, but Oliver was going to the rotation and they had some time before they needed him
the bullpen is very short right now, especially in the 7th and 8th inning set up roles
not sure what that has to do with the point this doesn't have to be a trade
if they want to wait til Friday it doesn’t have to have a hidden meaning.

A list of five
Jay Sborz- eligible 10 days after he got demoted, or as a replacement for Zoomer, either way
Zach Simons- stellar numbers, even if he’s pitching at Erie
Robbie Weinhardt- doing well in Toledo with a 1.00 WHIP
Brendan Wise- also has excellent numbers at Toledo and Erie this season
Rick Porcello- but only if a starter gets bumped to the pen, and Rick wasn’t so hot last outing
I vote Simons
Would’ve said Weinhardt, but he’s just back from injury

I looooove Simons
Irrationally- he’s good against lefties (reverse platoon split) and a flyball guy (though doesn’t yield a lot of homers). Good control and lots of K’s- oh, did I mention we got him for JASON FREAKING GRILLI?

Pssh
I would have been happy to get a bag of Sun Chips for Jason Grilli. An actual living body? Icing on the cake.
Reminds me of the M's and Yuni Betancourt.
Except that a bag of Sun Chips was their pie in the sky settlement; that KC gave them two people beat any and all expectations!
Ryan Raburn antagonist.
I'll say Weinhardt just for the hell of it.
