MLM Recap: Daniel Fields hits a home run, walks, for Lakeland
Okay, draft coverage will come tomorrow afternoon. Polishing up my board tonight and tomorrow.
AAA: Lehigh Valley 3, Toledo 1
Enrique Gonzalez had a pretty good start- 7 innings pitched, 2 earned runs allowed on 4 hits (including two solo homers) with 2 walks and 8 strikeouts. Casey Fien also pitched a good 2 innings of relief- 1 earned run on 2 hits (one a solo homer) with 2 strikeouts. Robizon Diaz was 2-3 with a double.
Erie fell even further below .500 as they lost again to the Aeros. Duane Below had a very short 4 inning start, giving up 3 runs (one earned) on 3 hits and 3 strikeouts. Anthony Shawler pitched a hitless inning with 2 strikeouts. Michael Bertram was 2-4 with a stolen base.
Brayan Villareal got lit up in his start- only 3.1 innings long. He gave up 4 earned runs on 6 hits (including a solo homer) and 4 walks with 3 strikeouts. Daniel Fields was 1-3 with a homer and a walk and Billy Nowlin was 2-4.
A: West Michigan 9, Burlington 2
Trevor Feeney went 8 innings, giving up 1 earned run on 7 hits and a walk with 4 strikeouts. The offense was the real story- West Michigan rarely hits the freaking ball. Kudos go to Michael Rockett (1-2 with 2 walks) and Jimmy Guliver (2-2 with a home run and 2 walks).

Villarreal was due to get shelled i guess
Wish I could have seen the three run shot by Fields… I’m really pullin’ for that kid! He’s exciting to watch.
Thanks for the update,it is a lot easier than surfing around the web.
I agree on Fields
I think the money we invested in him combined with the fact that he is a local talent AND a legacy player makes him very intruiging… I do wish he could have stayed at SS or moved to 3B instead of OF though…

If Bradenton played Western Michigan
then that’s got to be some kind of minor league record from longest road trip.
Yeah
I do these things at 4 in the morning, so typos happen. Thanks for the heads up.

He's more of filler at this point
A Quad A arm. He may make a spot start here or there, but don’t expect an impact.

Also Hoping DD grabs Michiganders in the Draft
It Pains me to see Thornton from Three Rivers (one of my home towns), in an enemy White Sox uniform.
was the fields walk worthy of a headline?
i just found it funny, which was probably the point
It was mostly for the homer
But he hasn’t walked in a while. So it’s noteworthy.
