MLM Recap: Charlie Furbush dominates Hi-A (again)
Lots of draft news and work (it's why the recap didn't go up last night- d'oh). I've got a lot planned for the next few days- starting with, of course, a liveblogging of the first round and supplemental round on Monday's off day. It'll be like a gamethread, but instead of baseball, it'll be the draft. I'll also be liveblogging the Tigers picks on the second day of the draft and even preparing draft-themed morning ledes.
Also, you'll see a recap of the Sickles draft and how the Tigers did- that'll come up Monday afternoon.
Onto the boxes- Friday's below the jump
New acquisition Billy Buckner got lit up in 4.1 innings of work- he gave up 8 runs on 14 hits (including a homer) with 1 walk and 2 strikeouts. Scott Sizemore was 4-5 and Casper Wells was 3-4 with a triple.
Jon Kibler had a short start- 4.1 innings. He allowed 2 walks, 4 hits and that yielded 3 earned runs. He did strike out 4 batters. Anthony Shawler went 2.2 innings, allowing 2 hits and 2 strikeouts. Wilkin Ramirez was 2-3 with a double and a triple.
Charlie Furbush dominated again, going 6.2 innings and allowing 1 earned run on 3 hits and 2 walks with 8 strikeouts. Kody Kaiser was 3-5 with 2 doubles, Ben Guez was 2-4 with a double and Gustavo Nunez was 2-4 with a double.
A: West Michigan vs. Peoria PPD
Ryan Ketchner put in 6 scoreless innings, giving up 4 hits and a walk with 3 strikeouts. Daniel Schlereth went 1.2 innings, allowing 1 hit with 2 strikeouts. Danny Worth was 2-3, Ryan Streiby was 4-5 and Brent Dlugach was 1-5 with a triple.
Thad Weber went 7 innings allowing 3 earned runs (on 3 solo homers). He gave up 6 hits including those homers and walked 2 while striking out 5. Andy Dirks was 4-5 with a double and a homer and Andy Bouchie was 2-4 with a double and a homer.
Adam Wilk was stellar- he went 6 scoreless innings giving up only 2 hits, striking out 5. Alden Carrithers, Daniel Fields and Julio Rodriguez all had 2 hits.
Giovany Soto had a rough start, going 4.2 innings and letting up 2 earned runs on 7 hits and 3 walks with 4 strikeouts. Michael Rockett was 3-4 with a triple and a homer, while Avisail Garcia had a 3-5 night.

Furbush looked great tonight (as usual)!
Thanks for the update on our recent nightmare named Billy!
Good stuff as usual David!
Can you send me your draft info? I’d love to see it!

My guess with Furbush
Is that they’ll move him up in the big shuffle when all the new draftees come in. So, any day now, right? That’s what I keep telling myself.
I don't want to hear any weak sh*t from Jason Grilli.
The thing with that is...
Most draft picks don’t sign right away. In fact your pretty much lucky to get them on a team for six weeks or a month. (keep in mind the Minor League season is finshed in August)
I’m wondering if it is a matter of not wanting to promote/demote someone in AA Erie quite yet? My other guess would be that he’s hanging around til the all-star break.
Either way, I’m enjoying watching him!

Yeah
But a couple sign really fast. So I’m thinking this sounds about right.
