"I am proud of the players we have developed over the past few years that have formed the foundation for the future success of the Detroit Tigers," Ezell said. "I am moving now in other directions. Thank you."

Timing is a bit odd!
Difference of opinion in the draft. A lot of us posters have felt they were a little cautious this year. Several missed opportunities. Could Glen be unhappy with what is going on?
Doubtful
Nobody resigns in a huff in the middle of the draft.

Good Luck Ezell
He has a great reputation, to bad for the Tigers. On Timing, Tigers cut everyone beyond pick 17 last year, not suprised.
Right in the middle of the draft! At first, I thought maybe he’s just retiring (he’s 65 now) and decided to wait till the draft to hang it up. But then, the release came out where he said that he was quitting today, and “going another direction”.
Then, this conversation was overheard in the Tiger draft war room:
Ezell: Okay, eighth round. I say go for that kid from Missouri. His fastball sits at 102, with a devastating curve, a plus plus slider, and a filthy change up.
DD: I was actually thinking….
Ezell: The shortstop? Great. Awesome contact bat, plus power for a SS, and gold glove potential.
Avila: The league wants to know our choice guys.
DD: With the eighth round selection, the Detroit Tigers take Patrick Leyland.
Ezell: I freakin quit!
DD: Awww come on, Glenn, another six rounds and he might be gone.
Ezell: Yeah, like Allie, and Yordy Cabrera, and AJ Cole?
DD: We need catchers.
Ezell: Yeah, catchers. This is like a rerun of “All in the Family”.
DD: He’s a good kid!
Ezell: Adios amigos.
