Though I wouldn’t want to deprive you. The point would be to get him work on those breaking balls so he can get the K as well as the GB- much like how the Jays reinvented Halladay. There’s a a thread on this over at Minor League Ball.

I was gonna do a fanpost on Rick...
but I think this Pitchf/x chart is basically telling us what his biggest problem is…
NOTE: Charts aren’t from this game, it’s from his last start but is probably just as telling.
Really bad release point. Needs work, probably needs some time in the minors.
And the result is this…
Provided that I’m reading this chart right (MIke or someone can confirm or deny what I’m about to say) his pitch location is very off (no sink really) and his poor arm slot isn’t helping him disguise his pitches. The result? A game like tonight.
