Damn, you really have to wonder if his stock is dropping with the Tigers

Sizemore was all but given…Hell, he was given the 2B job before spring training. Now he can’t stick on the roster over Will Rhymes? Not a good sign.

They haven't given him a chance to stick

I agree completely, and I don’t understand how he is ever going to get a chance if they are choosing career minor leaguers and guys with less upside over him. I am getting more and more pissed off with the management, and this might finally be the year I snap. Good lord.

Exactly

He gets what, 200 PA? And then he’s moved to a new defensive home and expected to play. That’s just crap.

But DDB... you're my anchor!

I panicked when I saw the headline… and scrolled down to your post, hoping that it would explain why it made sense for the Tigers, and thus calm me down a bit.

Back to the panicking again… and not just for 2010. For 2011 now too. If Sizemore isn’t a lock for 2B, do the Tigers need to add that to the growing list of off season chores?

And to think, I actually defended DD when Palanco was allowed to walk.

we have to see how they use him in Toledo

Maybe they feel like he’s a third base solution and needs more work there. Every time the team does something counter intuitive doesn’t mean it’s time to panic. It means you have to try to think along with how they see things.

The plan has to be Guillen at 2B next year, and maybe Sizemore at third?

Either way, they’re in a race right now in July, at least mathematically, and they’ve chosen Rhymes over Sizemore to try and win some games until Guillen gets back. Not exactly a vote of confidence in Scott. Let’s see where he plays when he goes to Toledo. My money’s on third base, and I don’t like the move.

sent to minors

I think the one who should be sent down is Rayburn he doesn’t hit well enough (and should never hit higher than 8th) and his fielding is not that good. He is a AAA star and no better. It’s too bad we don’t have a catcher or two, in the minors, who could replace the two easy outs we have here.

Don Kelly sucks-INSANITY

rhymes has some speed and seems like he can get on base, we don’t have to have a power guy at second, always though Jarish was Ok at the plate at least, not sure why we won’t play him in OF to give somebody a break.

But Kelly? I don’t get it, he’s 30, the pirates cut him, he OBP is 250 and so is his slugging but not only do we not send him down he comes in as a pinch hitter and Leyland won’t even pinch hit for him unless it is lefty on lefty, he also won’t pinch hit for Laird either unless it is right- THAT IS INSANITY – to keep putting this guy out there and expect him to perform is the defintion of insanity, even better he has led off like 5 or 6 games. Leyland should be fired, the game has passed him by. I’m not a pro scout but I think if the Pirates cut a guy who is 28 you probably shouldn’t expect much. If joe Maddon was our manager we would be in first.

Sizemore is the last guy I would have sent down, his average isn’t great but he has hit a lot of hard hit balls that got caught, he should be hitting about 250, he will take a walk, at least make a guy throw strikes, he certainly isn’t a free out like Kelly and Laird. At least it only took a year and a half to cut Everett.

I was so mad I was misspelling words

just saw it was sizemore that went down from work.

The tigers are hopeless until we get a manager who understands statistics and doesn’t base everything on if a guy is left or right handed. At least if somebody sucks you should be able to recognize it, how times have kelly or laird pinch hit?

Here's my guess.

The Tigers are going to leave Guillen at 2B and move Sizemore to 3B.
If his numbers can translate to the show, they’d play pretty well at 3B.
In the field, the mistakes that he made were mainly hasty type moves.
At third base, there isn’t time to react, and he doesn’t have to go into the hole nearly as much and make a play. It’s more straight reflex reactions. His range wasn’t really a problem and I don’t think his arm was that bad. So maybe they figure he can be the answer at third base.

As far as Larish, I think it’s a raw deal no matter what they’re doing. He really has not had a chance- a real chance. He has hit at every level, with good plate patience and power. He just takes time to adjust. Being the regular 3B in Toledo and passed up for promotion by Sizemore, who hadn’t played third recently at all, was bad enough. But being passed over for Peralta? ugh! I still like Larish, and I like him at third. Now.
