Schlereth called up, Down goes Frazier!
From Mlive.com's Steve Kornacki
CHICAGO -- The Detroit Tigers announced after Sunday's game that they were optioning outfielder Jeff Frazier to Triple-A Toledo and recalling left-handed reliever Daniel Schlereth.
Frazier hit .217 with one double and one RBI in 23 at-bats, and Schlereth had no record and a 2.45 ERA in four appearances with Detroit earlier this season.
Schlereth was 1-3 with a 2.37 ERA for Toledo. Schlereth had a very high number of strikeouts (60) and walks (34) in 49 1/3 innings, but had been sharp of late with a 1.26 ERA in his last 10 games.
I took the liberty of correcting the typos in the article.
Some more numbers on Dan's work in Toledo:
He has a WHIP of 1.50 for the season, which is not very good, and opponents have hit just .219 off him.
Lefties have hit .208 and righties .225 for the season. The overall Avg is down to .196 over the past 10 games.
He has also managed to lower his WHIP to a more respectable 1.28 in the last 10 games, dating to July 20th.
Walks continue to pile up, along with the strikeouts. BB/9 = 6.9 and K/9 = 10.95
Schlereth pitched just 3.2 innings with the Tigers in his first call up, allowing 7 hits and 2 BB's. Opponents hit .368
Dan's WHIP was 2.45 in his first trip this season.
He pitched 18.1 innings with Arizona last season, posting a record of 1- 4, an ERA of 5.89, WHIP of 1.64.
The key with Schlereth is his command. His "stuff" is unquestionably good.

Call Up
I expected Weinhardt to be sent down as he has not been effective, With Raburn hitting better now, another bench player is not as necessary. I just hope this means that Jim Leyland keeps a consistent lineup for the rest of the season. That includes playing Avila everyday except for tough lefthanders like Sabbathia and Lester.
Sorry Jeff, but good riddance!
Just hope we’re not rushing Daniel

But I just got here!?
Says Jeff Frazier. Actually, I wasn’t impressed with Frazier. Seemed a bit over-matched by MLB pitching. Hell, it took him 5 years to figure out AAA pitching.
Sadly, I’m not impressed with Schlereth either. How does he walk sooooo many guys?
Granderson was my Tiger, then Sizemore, then Willis. Since they're all gone, I'm taking Raburn and hoping the pattern holds.
Hes the 2nd coming of Dontrelle Willis.
So you all know I like him.

Dontrelle minus personality
What a deal!

What goes up, must go down.
The only question is: Why wasn’t Frazier moved sooner…?
Does the FO know who Casper Wells is…?

Pretty much this
Of course, Frazier was pretty much Jeff Larish sans walks…

my worthless prediction
is we see Schlereth in tonight’s game (Tues.) and it won’t be pretty.
I always root for the new guys, but what I’ve seen from him so far wasn’t inspiring. Please prove me wrong Danny.
