The Detroit Tigers appear to have come to terms with RHP Chance Ruffin, according to Alan Trubow of the Austin American Statesman. Ruffin, a reliever out of Texas, signed for $1.15 million and is expected to be a fast moving bullpen arm similar to Huston Street. He was the 48th pick overall in the MLB First Year Player Draft and the second overall for the Tigers. The recommended slot was $728K.
Ruffin's arsenal features an above average fastball, a plus slider, an average curve and a mediocre changeup. His stuff plays up in the bullpen and he has a good mind for the game, so he could close one day, though ideally he should be used as a setup man.
