If we have both of these guys, that’s two less positions that DD has to fill the critical 2, 3, and 5 spots in the lineup. Fortunately, most of the talent for those spots are OF/ DH types.

If those guys are back, they'll each get about 7 mil for a year or two
wouldn’t prevent DD from getting a big bat or two, but both take up two positions where he might fit a speedy No. 2 hitter or something. fill the SS and 3B slots, that leaves DH, RF, and Catcher to bat 2nd, 3rd, and 5th. Getting a RF and DH aren’t too hard, but a catcher to bat fifth is a rare dude.

Guy’s gotta be tired. He’s had a long season of carrying the team and even though he’s still coming through with some timely hits, he’s not as relaxed at the plate as he was before the ASG (and before Magglio got hurt). Something’s been off and he may have hurt himself by trying to hard or over-compensating for whatever was hurting.
