Bumped to the front for discussion purposes. It's the New York Post reporting, so take this rumor with a boulder of salt. --Rob
The New York Post reported today that the Mets would consider trading 3B David Wright in a package for a young, defensive-minded CF and 1-2 young arms. If that doesn't scream "TIGERS!" I don't know what does. We have young pitching and a CF who, while beloved, could be replaced...especially if the return is a good bat at 3B.
The article goes on to say the Mets know their best chance is for the Phillies to get old, and for their window to open after that, in 2013 or 14. In other words, our most valuable chips to them would be our stable of AA and AAA pitching prospects, particularly the lefties. I love Jackson, but we can find another CF just about anywhere.
What do you say, folks? Would you trade Jackson + 2 pitching prospects (not named Turner) in exchange for David Wright?
