Armando Galarraga Designated for Assignment by Arizona
Word has hit the news via twitter from media sources close to the Diamondbacks, and also from Jason Beck of MLB.com, that former Tiger pitcher Armando Galarraga has been designated for assignment by the Arizona Diamondbacks. Armando was out of options, so if he was to be removed from the 25 man roster, he has to be DFA'd. Arizona now has ten days to trade him, or put him through waivers and either outright him to the minors or release him. Because of the contract that he signed with the Tigers, which was picked up by Arizona, he is likely to clear waivers.
After a rough night on Monday, Galarraga was short with reporters asking whether he was concerned about his job. In my view. the responses were not as harsh as portrayed in some reports, but they revealed a level of frustration. When asked about the performance of his fellow former Tiger, Kurt Gibson didn't offer anything to give a vote of confidence to Armando. Galarraga started eight games for the last place D'backs, compiling a 3- 4 record with a 5.91 ERA and a 1.62 WHIP. He struck out 28 and walked 22 in 42.2 innings.

Never was my favorite player, but
his play 2008 was one of the only real highlights to a miserable season. The rest of his career was far too inconsistent. You cannot talk about his time in Detroit without the perfect game as well. Overall I hope he does well and finds a job in a teams bullpen, but unfortunately I don’t know if he will ever see another major league inning.
