Thad Weber struck out nine in 5.2 innings while giving up three earned runs. He did give up three homers and walked two. Andy Dirks had two hits, two walks and two stolen bases.
LJ Gagnier gave up three earned runs in three innings, striking out one. Jamie Johnson was 2-3 with a pair of walks.
A+: Lakeland 14, Brevard County 5
Jared Wesson gave up three earned runs in seven innings, walking four while striking out five. But the hitting is the real story here. Gustavo Nunez was 2-6 with a home run. Wade Gaynor was 4-5 with two doubles and a triple. Avisail Garcia was 4-6 with a double. Corey Jones was 2-6, Michael Rockett was 3-6 and Jordan Lennarton was 2-3 with two walks. Mmm... offense.
A: Fort Wayne 13, West Michigan 7
Josue Carreno pitched three innings, giving up six earned runs. The hitting was better. Rob Brantly was 2-4 with two doubles and Nick Castellanos was 2-4 with a homer.
Saturday, April 30
Andy Oliver returned to form: he struck out six while walking two in seven scoreless innings. Enrique Gonzalez was perfect in 1.2 innings, striking out three. Scott Sizemore was 3-4 with a double.
Casey Crosby shut out Altoona over seven innings, striking out seven while wlaking two. Chance Ruffin and Lester Oliveros both pitched hitless innings, each striking out one.
A+: Brevard County 6, Lakeland 1
The good news is that Cole Nelson struck out eight in 4.2 innings. The bad news is that he gave up 11 hits, walked two and gave up four runs. Gustavo Nunez was 2-4 with a triple.
Antonio Cruz gave up two earned runs over seven innings, walking three and striking out two. Billy Nowlin was 1-4 with a double.
Friday April 29
Adam Wilk gave up an earned run in seven innings on a solo homer. He walked one and struck out three. Andy Dirks was 3-5 with a home run and a stolen base while Timo Perez was 2-5 with a double and a homer.
Luke Sorensen got torn up over 4.1 innings, giving up seven runs (six earned). Ben Guez was 2-4 with a triple and a walk.
Jay Voss struck out three over five innings, giving up two earned runs. Avisail Garcia was 1-4 with a triple.
A: Lansing 12, West Michigan 6
Brennan Smith gave up five runs in four innings- only one of those runs was earned. He did strike out three batters. Rob Brantly was 2-5 with a double, James Robbins was 2-5 with a double and a homer and Luis Castillo was 2-4 with a double and a stolen base.
Thursday April 28
Duane Below gave up one earned run in seven innings, walking one while striking out five. Andy Dirks was 3-5 with two doubles and John Murrian was 2-4 with a double.
Jacob Turner got hit around a bit, giving up four runs in seven innings, striking out four while walking one. He allowed two homers. Jamie Johnson was 2-3 with a walk.
Trevor Feeney gave up eight runs in four innings. I'd go into details, but let's just leave it at that. Avisail Garcia was 2-4 while Brent Wyatt was 3-4.
Patrick Cooper gave up 3 earned runs in 3.1 innings. Four Flying Tigers had hits in this game- Hernan Perez, PJ Polk, Nick Castellanos and Luis Alberto Sanz (who also walked).
