What to Watch For:
1. Justin-credible - Tigers starter Justin Verlander gets the start in the last game of the series on Thursday afternoon. In his last 3 starts, he is 3-0 with 31 strikeouts and a 0.35 ERA. However, in his only career start against the Mets last year - he went only 2 innings after giving up 5 earned runs on 5 hits.
2. Dickey turning things around - Though his stats are not impressive, Mets starter R.A. Dickey is slowly starting to get some wins and lower his ERA. In his last start against the A's, he went 8 innings while only giving up 1 run and striking out 9. He is 3-2 with a 4.02 ERA career against Detroit.
3. Michigan homecoming - Mets manager Terry Collins is originally from Midland, Michigan. He is a former shortstop at Eastern Michigan University and was inducted in the EMU Athletics Hall of Fame in 1994.
On a side note - Tigers starter Rick Porcello, originally from Morristown, New Jersey, was a Mets fan throughout his childhood.
On Deck:
The San Francisco Giants come into town for a weekend series starting Friday.

You Have Porcello
As not having faced any other DETROIT batter other than Jason Bay. Might need to switch that to New York.
You also have Inge as a hitter to fear
That cannot be correct either.
"i think it will be mostly feast the rest of the year,"
Hahahaha...
Yeah the Inge thing almost does seem like a typo. Maybe he will indeed come through for us.
I think the term is "small sample size"
it will correct itself when he has 4 more AB’s
However,
isnt Dickey that knucklballer that we bombed when he was in texas for like 5 or 6 HR’s in one game?
That was very early in the knuckleball experiment
He is much better with that pitch these days.
The other sports are just sports. Baseball is a love. ~Bryant Gumbel, 1981
I'm feeling a relapse
His PTSD will kick in when he remembers how the ‘bad men’ touched him last time he was in comerica.
the last time he was in comerica
he pitched 2 2/3 scoreless innings against the tigers

Unrelated, but votes updated today.
Russell Martin, Yankees: 2,779,592
Alex Avila, Tigers: 2,345,065
He’s catching up, but I don’t think it’s going to be fast enough.
I hope Alex catches him.
Either that or Martin gets in a really bad collision at the plate, thus rendering him unable to start the ASG. Not that I’d ever like to see someone get hurt or anything, but this is a special situation. Heck, even the SB Yankees blog had a post up saying to vote Avila!

Truth has been spoken
My favorite comment:
I dont give a crap about this. Its all just a contest anyway. You could stick Deron Williams behind the plate for the Yankees and he would get voted in.
Why are you attaching Justin's name
to Jason Verlander starts? Justin’s never faced the Mets. You’re just further perpetuating the myth that they are the same person.
tonights lineup
1. Austin Jackson, cf
2. Brennan Boesch, lf
3. Magglio Ordonez, rf
4. Miguel Cabrera, 1b
5. Victor Martinez, dh
6. Jhonny Peralta, ss
7. Alex Avila, c
8. Brandon Inge, 3b
9. Ryan Raburn, 2b
P: Rick Porcello
I find Boesch at 2 and Maggs at 3
to be an interest choice. Hopefully it’s the best lineup we’ve had yet, and we pound that knuckleballer for all he’s worth.
I hate knuckleballers
Always have. It’s like they can’t really pitch so they gotta have a gimmick. They don’t belong in the majors, if ya’ ask me. No place for ‘em. If can’t get it up there above 60 mph, you should stick to softball. THROW THE BALL LIKE A FRIGGING MAN!!!!

Coke and Porcello
First let me say I like Phil Coke but not as a starter. That experiment failed and it is over. Give Furbush a few starts and Coke back in the pen. Porcello has got to be sent down because in his last 3 starts he has lost all of confidence. The way the opposing teams are hitting him you would think he is a batting practice pitcher. Penny is an average pitcher at best so after Verlander and Sherzer we don’t have much. That doesn’t mean I think the Tigers should bring up Oliver or Turner. Personally I have watched Oliver pitch at Toledo and I think he is a carreer Minor Leaguer. As he has already shown when he was with the Tigers, he just isn’t that good and rushing Turner now would be the same as what’s going on with Porcello. He was rushed to the Show when he wasn’t ready and now he is paying the price.
