Game 96 Overflow: A's at Tigers
Tigers News: 3rd round pick Aaron Westlake signed today.
What went down so far for those just tuning in:
- Lots of nothing through the first 3+ innings (a.k.a. I wasn't here)
- Scott Sizemore took a Porcello fastball to the face and left the game. X-rays were negative.
- Victor Martinez scored on arguably the most entertaining play of the season via a Carlos Guillen triple
- The A's touched up Rick Porcello for 3 runs in the top of the 5th on a bunch of fairly weak ground balls between 1st and 2nd.
- The Tigers scored 6 runs in the bottom of the 5th. RBIs came from Magglio Ordonez, Miguel Cabrera (2), Jhonny Peralta and Guillen (2).

Second-half history suggests that's a bad idea.
2009 1st half: .269/.346/.496/.842
2009 2nd half: 310/.369/.563/.933
2010 1st half: .208/.287/.350/.637
2010 2nd half: .315/.366/.534/.900
2011 1st half: .213/.248/.360/.609
2011 2nd half: TBD
Agreed.
For his lack of range, Carlos does have excellent arm strength. A SS’s arm at 2B has its advantages.

Scared of the Twins again, typical 2nd half run =/
That's really more of a myth than anything else
if they lose tonight, they’ll still be 8 games back, exactly where they were a month ago. That’s not exactly storming to first place.
Whatever, I don't care
If Cleveland wins, Minny falls further behind. The Tigers aren’t winning anything if they can’t beat Cleveland anyway.

You're on a board of intelligent Tiger fans
we’re all well aware of Inge’s poor play. We all agree it’s not acceptable. But this is not a site where we allow people to just go around bashing players all they want. That’s not the atmosphere on BYB. It’s not what we, as fans, want to discuss.
