Game 97 Overflow: A's at Tigers

What's happened so far:

  • Rob is no longer homeless, but has no idea what actually happened
  • Duane Below's dad had a bug fly into both eyes at once. No, he wasn't crying; not at all.
  • Don Kelly hit a triple.
  • Hideki Matsui has killed the Tigers tonight, going 3-for-4 with 3 RBI.
  • David Purcey screwed up big time: 3 batters faced, 3 walks (h/t thepartybird) in a 4-run 7th inning for the A's.

Star-divide

Topics from the previous thread:

  • Duane Below jokes... lots of them
  • bmark6197 is going to Vegas, so place your bets everyone.
  • Google+ and WTF it actually is
  • The weather and booze, naturally.
  • Baroque yelling in all caps about something, possibly Purcey-related

how many negative fantasy points David Purcey just scored. You know, if you were in fact stupid enough to have him on your team.

Yes, it was Purcey-related. Multiple walks make me furious – if you are going to put them on, smack them in the ass with a fastball instead of mincing around the strikezone like a skittish songbird and walking people.

Jim Leyland had no business using Purcey with a two run lead in the 7th inning

An average fan can see that Purcey is a very mediocre pitcher. That’s why he was DFA’d by the Jays. He’s wild, often ineffective, and when he doesn’t have it, he needs to be yanked.

Leyland had a lot to do with blowing this lead. Very, very poor managing, IMO.

When the Indians traded V-Mart to the Red Sox

they still gave away his bobbleheads a few days later.

Maybe the Tigers will still hand out the Inge Fatheads next week, even if he’s gone.

ugh

He was so annoying though. His voice was like fingernails on a blackboard and he was a loose cannon. Soundwave was okay, though. I liked the sneaky Decepticons.

The best version of Starscream wasn't the original, though I do like him.

Nope, its from a more recent cartoon where he was voiced by Mr. Spongebob himself Tom Kenny.

I only remember the original cartoon

And the animated movie with Hot Rod becoming Rodimus Prime and saving the planet from being eaten.

We lost ground to the Twins.

I do not like knowing the Twins are within 5 games of us.

me neither

I refuse to be upset about them when Chicago and Cleveland are more pressing concerns, but if Detroit keeps sliding backwards they will bring the Twins into the race through their own actions.

That's just baseball

Tigers got the series split, players did their best, can’t win em all, blah, blah, blah.

just saw the tweets

Whoa. That was way faster than I thought. Dombrowski was saying that after Betemit actually joined the team they would make a decision. Probably inevitable, but still sad.
