CoopScoop: Turner is "OK" in first Triple-A start
The Toledo Blade's John Wagner breaks down Jacob Turner's first Triple-A start, and reports Turner will be skipped during the next run through the rotation. His next start is scheduled for Aug. 21. Right now, he is on pace for 142 MLB+MiLB innings this season, an increase from 115 1/3 last season.

All the skipping of Turner tells me that he is their injury insurance policy on their current 5 starters
You know I'm right about this.
He talks about Chance Ruffin in the article
I thought he was part of the Fister trade….wazzup?

Not known yet
The 4th leg of that trade is a PTBNL. It’s most likely somebody from the 2010 draft class. You can’t trade them for a year after signing, so that’s why they end up as PTBNL.
The three most valuable pieces from that draft are Ruffn, Smyly, and Castellanos. It’s highly unlikely that the Tigers would send both Castellanos and Martinez in the same trade, so it’s really down to Smyly and Ruffin.
Perhaps somebody can comment on this, but is it possible that the Tigers said you can have Ruffin or Smyly, but we get to keep them for the remainder of this season? Smyly won’t be much help either way, but I think it’s very possible that Ruffin could pitch valuable innings for the team if he’s called up.

Since it's a player to be named later
Theoretically the Tigers could name said player after the season is over, depending on how the deal was constructed.
That's wacky
Let’s say Smyly gets injured and Ruffin starts stinking up the joint. Who decides how the trade is completed?
