What to Watch For:
1. Penny Watch - Tigers starter Brad Penny gets his first start since August 4th and his first night game since July 1st. In his last 3 starts he is 0-3 with a 7.94 ERA.

2. Boesch injury update - Tigers outfielder Brennan Boesch has been diagnosed with a second-degree sprain on his right thumb. He has said it's gotten a lot better and the swelling has gone down drastically. We could see him return late in this series if all goes according to plan.

3. Oriole pitcher to fear - Baltimore sends Jeremy Guthrie to the mound on Saturday night to face Max Scherzer. His numbers are not too impressive, as he has not gotten the run support from the Orioles. He is 1-1 with a 4.71 ERA in his last 3 starts. He has also been able to tame the Tigers over his career - 3-1 with a 2.83 ERA and 31 strikeouts.

On Deck:
Tigers return home on Monday to face the Twins for a 3-game series.

Only Penny's "hitter to fail"

would be a guy who’s hitting .286 against him.

SHIT!

BALTIMORE — Detroit Tigers relief pitcher Al Alburquerque rode off the field on a cart today after being hit in the head with a fly ball during batting practice.

Alburquerque writhed in pain on the ground in the moments after being hit as he was playing catch in left field while the Orioles took batting practice. Several teammates and training staff members rushed to his aid.

Alburquerque eventually stood up with assistance and climbed onto a cart before being driven off the field.

An update on his condition was not immediately available

That's not good. Hope Al Al is okay

That clip was verbatim from mlive.com, BTW (helps to quote source, especially when taking their words as is.)

I don't care what the Chinese say, 2011 is the Year of the Tiger!

Once again, the lineup used almost cost the Tigs the game. The bottom of the lineup has been hitting well but continued use of Maggs and especially Guillen is a recipe for losing. If used (why?), they should bat 8th and 9th. The younger players are batting well above both of them and also field better (especially Dirks). Miguel continues to get singles and doubles, but where did his power go or his formerly good hitting with RISP? I’d move him up to bat third and move Avila up right behind Peralta. Keeping the same lineup could cost them at least one loss to Baltimore.

Buuuuttttt...

They won. Your argument is invalid.

My argument is specific to the remaining games, not to a single game, won or lost.
