Tigers hope surgery on Brennan Boesch's thumb can be delayed
Via Tom Gage of the Detroit News:
"The remainder of Brennan Boesch's season has been jeopardized by a partially torn ligament in his right thumb.
It's the thumb that Boesch sprained nearly three weeks ago in Cleveland.
Trainer Kevin Rand said Monday that thumb surgery is in Boesch's future to correct the situation but he hopes it can be delayed until after the season."
I have to wonder if a DL stint wouldn't be for the best at this point, in hopes of keeping Boesch healthy enough for a playoff run. No matter what the decision, this is not good news.

Oh crap
If it can’t be delayed, we won’t be totally screwed, but we’ll be much worse off

Don't look now, but
Maggs has a 5 game hitting streak and has hit in 7 of 8. I’m not saying he’s hot, but I know there’s a good hitter in there somewhere.

Well this sucks
Boesch puts together a near-full season of upper-level play, and he gets injured. GAH!
He hasn't been great recently
Hitting under .200 for the past 30 days, and just .219 since the break. I’m sure the thumb has something to do with that, but if it hurts him that much, better to just call up Dirks.
I don't care what the Chinese say, 2011 is the Year of the Tiger!
Delmon Young has the that beat, hands down
Not only did his misplay turn into a inside the park homer, but Young also ends up on the 15 day DL.
Here’s a link to the video: The play that Twins Fans will never forget
Wow. Delmon actually makes Raburn look graceful.

Is what it is
Delmon Young pick up looks huge right now. Get a healthy Raburn back and he should be able to put up the same number as boesch for the rest of the half. Now if we could fins a consistent number 2……
