Bill Simmons on why Justin Verlander should win the MVP
Great read. Great argument. Backed up by history, passion, and sabermetrics. Read it now.
Bumped to the front page. One of the best write-ups I've seen from Simmons in a while. And yes, that previous statement is 1,000% biased.

As my brother used to say about soccer
But, it’s soccer. I have to say it, “But, it’s Simmons.” At least he did some research and wasn’t firing blanks. (When talking about firing blanks, we’re looking at you, Skip Bayless, and your creepy man-crush on Tim Tebow.) Hopefully, it will at least crease the crania of a few MVP voters.
I hate this line of thought.
It’s silly to completely dismiss a writer because of his past work. This article is un-Simmons like for the majority. He’s breaking down research and backing things up; it’s more research than it is fan-fueled opinion. I’ve got nothing against Simmons on a typical day (unlike a growing number of folks, for some reason) but this was one of the best articles he’s written in some time.
I would just like to note I've disliked Simmons for years

I think that's more like a lowerarchy.
Rogo’s list of dislikes in his latest is freaking hilarious!
I don't care what the Chinese say, 2011 is the Year of the Tiger!
My only problem with that article
is that he refers to Comerica as a pitchers park. It hasn’t been a pitchers park for a few years, it has been neutral (even slightly trending toward hitters park). I understand that when the first opened the doors to teh park it was a complete pitchers park…then they moved the fences in!
sorry a pet peeve of mine.
I almost got Bill Simmons confused with Bill Simonson
Huge difference.
