Rick Knapp was named Minor League Pitching Coordinator for the Royals on Wednesday. He served as the Tigers pitching coach from 2009 to July of this year.
Can you guys tell us a little about him? Why did he get fired? What are his philosophies? What does he believe in when it comes to pitching? Does he allow long toss? Ect.
Thanks

we think he got fired because he was best suited for the role the Royals signed him to
Good down on the farm guy, not so good pitching coach on a major league roster. “Difference of philosophies” got him fired. Poor results in the first half didn’t help.
He was with the Twin forever so we’re pretty sure he likes to see people throw strikes, but we didn’t see a lot of that. (Of course, its’ hard to change the pitchers too much by the time they get to the MLB.)
