They gave him a guaranteed deal, which was a big part of his decision to sign there. Welp.

This makes me a sad panda.

I have (had?) an irrational man crush on Zoom. Now he’s with the enemy. Good for him getting guaranteed money, though.

Well it's not like he's ever going to pitch again

Or pitch for more than five games, anyway. Good luck, Voodoo Child.

Not upset.

Actually, the opposite. I can’t wait to see Zoom Zoom hang a 93 mph fastball over the plate for Cabrera to crush in the 8th inning. Let’s face it; there is no way zoom zoom regains the heat and scouts have said as such. He doesn’t exactly have any other + pitches and he won’t be nearly as effective as when we saw him in Detroit.

I will always like the guy, but let’s not kid ourselves about what’s happened and look at his production value rather than our past experiences with the guy.

eh

not that upset either, but really wish it wasn’t with the Twins. if he does end up coming back and having a decent season… I’d rather it not be against us and in the division.

This also makes my Zumaya jersey obsolete.

It's hard to miss someone who was rarely around for the last few seasons

At least we’ll always have 2006.

Srsly?

From Twinkie Town

Leyland was really hard on him

The hope is they manage his workload better

I saw that over there

Just laughed. When a guy can’t get past 40 innings before breaking down, it’s not workload that’s at issue.

Eat 'em up, Tigers!

Incentives =

1. 40 innings pitched.
2. No Guitar Hero for the course of the season (and offseason, for that matter).

Wish it wasn't the Twins

But like somebody said, it’s not like he’s ever going to pitch for them, so hopefully he never faces the Tigers. But if he does, I hope it is in Comerica Park, and the PA guy decides to cue the Hendrix when he comes on, and everyone gives him a standing ovation. The Miggy crushes a 2-out fastball to center and we win the game.

It's bittersweet

I’m fine with the Zumaya of today leaving. I’m actualy about happy about it. But at the same time, it leaves a bitter taste in my mouth knowing how good he could have been if the injuries would have stayed away. I guess it was inevitable though.

Good luck Zoel

We waited and waited and waited. We even cooked a four-course dinner, and lighted the candles in the dining room. But sadly, we got stood up again. So we’re not falling for that trap again. We have moved on.

ouch

Fine and dandy- he’s gone. But I always really liked zoomie- he had personality and attitude. I will definitely miss that. I loved his mound presence. I wish him the best, and a long career to boot.

Sad to see him go

So many years, so much hope. Did it have to be the Twins though? I’m sure I’ll feel better about it when he inevitably gets injured.

by ItsHarold on Jan 15, 2012 6:48 PM EST reply actions

If Zumaya had decided that maybe he should learn how to pitch...

after the first injury, maybe none of the other injuries happen. Second, I’ll take a well placed 95mph fastball over a thrown 100mph fastball any day. And that my friends is why I am not sad about this in the least.

It sucks to hear that Zumaya is now gone

but he’s a shell of his former self. I hope he does have a revival of his career (just dont do it against Detroit please! :))

I was watching footage from 2006 ALDS Gm 2

And Zumaya pitched the 7th & 8th inning. Struck out Jeter, Giambi, and A-Rod…threw 17 triple-digit fastballs!! After that was the supposed “Guitar Hero” incident, guy’s never been the same. Oh well, I wish him luck for his sake….and ONLY his sake.

The Guillen Of The Pitching Staff Is Gone

This was going to happen. We just cant afford another injury plaged season from him.
