The Hot Stove, continued- 5th starter edition
Ok I'm as excited as the next person about the Prince signing, believe me. It has kept my focus for a few days now, which is saying something. However, one thing I noticed during the press conference was DD saying the team was still looking into the 5th spot in the rotation, maybe some non-roster invites kind of thing. Well that's all I needed to shift my attention to other matters. I was looking at the free agent tracker at MLBTR for remaining starters, and the pickings are slim. But still, I'm always up for some idle speculation, and I can't get enough player transactions evidently. So who do you think makes the most sense, assuming DD's parameters really are now excluding guys like E. Jackson? I say Rich Harden, Livan Hernandez (because of the Marlins connections) or maybe a flyer on a guy like Scott Kazmir might be worth at least a look (but boy he was really terrible in LA). Or at this point is it truly a battle amongst the kids we already have? Oh, and let's get Cespedes.

Three former Tigers are now off limits. Lucas French, the pitcher who went to Seattle for Washburn, was signed by the Twins. Max St. Pierre, he of 14 minor league seasons, has a contract with Boston, and Brent Clevlen, still only 28 years old, is in the Phillies organization.
