Tigers Have Been Busy with Minor Moves
While the Tigers' 2011- 2012 off season has been quiet, if not downright boring up to this point, the organization has made some significant moves involving some of the most touted and most skilled players in the Tigers' minor league system.
No, I am not referring to the signing of light hitting Eric Patterson to a minor league contract, nor the release of Will Rhymes.
TigsTown.com has published its annual list of "best tools" in the Tigers organization this week. Mark Anderson writes the Tigers have removed from the 40-man roster their best athlete in Cale Iorg, and lost their fastest player, best defensive infielder and best infield arm to the Pirates when they selected shortstop Gustavo Nunez in the Rule 5 Draft. He was left exposed in the draft for the second consecutive year.
The Tigers instead opted to protect a pair of 20-year-olds in Avisail Garcia and Hernan Perez, who were promoted to the major league roster in November. Garcia was named best outfield defense.
Also removed from the roster was longtime top prospect Ryan Strieby, who has no daylight in his path to the major leagues as long as the Tigers have Miguel Cabrera and Victor Martinez on their roster.
Note: Tigstown.com is currently releasing their list of the Top 50 prospects. No's 41- 50 and No's 31- 40 have been published as free content. A more complete analysis is available for premium content subscribers to Tigstown.

tiger minor moves/moves tigers minorly
It,s obvious Dave Drombowski doesnt want FIELDER in our line up at 1st base. Who wants a sure 35-40 hrs and an extra 100 rbi,s in the mix. Apparently we dont!
Tiger manager already said Cabera well play 3rd base. Pretty rotten infield huh! Add Fielders 100 at bats in those games with good pitchers and teams we lost to and hey we win a few ballgames. Even though we continue to protect our staff of 5.50 e r a hulers.
SS looks like it will have to work itself out between the platooning/unless we trade for a SS. CF we blew it by not getting Quinten & TRADING jACKSON for a SS. ROTATION wise: JV is better traded now after his gimmes on the mvp/cy awards. Some Nl team will give up a SS and Two Starters FOR him cause hes so valuable right!
WRONG: baseball writers know his stuff is telligrafted and predictable and that NL hitters feast on junk like his. Thats why no block buster offers have been put on the table for him.. Same with Cabera: tempermental dominican a prey to machoism tequilla and GUNS A REAL STABLE fORCE TO BUILD YOUR TEAM AROUND.
HE,d be worth a SS and a starter or two as well. HE,s a chump against lefties with heat who throw inside. Its no big deal if we tigers get rid of the baggae here. Why! cause Fielder would win more games with his bat that JV does with the arm or Cabera does with his bat..
Those few core issues aside we might develope into a pennant contender for a few years to come. Almost like the 50s Yankees teams.

Trust me here
You don’t need the capital letters. ‘You’ would make your impression just fine without ’em.

There is a whole lot of whoa! in this post...
you need to post more often because you just blew my mind, and during a boring off season at least you are entertaining.
so, i went to see what he has posted on here ever
and he’s got only one other post, and it’s a doozy in the “roy oswalt to detroit” rumor post.

So many favorite parts to this post...

Bottom line, if we trade Verlander for a SS and two starters, and pick up Fielder=World Series?
Don't drive angry!
really? really? Man, you have a lot of nerve posting this here.
Also a fan of the Rays and Lightning.

I feel just the opposite....
It’s so frigging bizarre, it almost has to be serious.
Somebody should try and send him an e-mail. I would…..but I’m afraid my computer would explode.

But opposing hitters don’t?

This is old news.
Any chance of the Tigers getting Fielder to play first went out the window when we did not sign Pujols to play second base. Then it would make sense to move Cabera to third and Verlander to center field. This way Ajax could become a full time DH.

You may/should be banned for mistaking this site for MLive….
Unless you had a reply fail to Mark
I am missing the sarcasm, which as sarcastic as I am I usually don’t.
If you did have a reply fail, then I would hope you are clever enough to see how my confusion came and wouldn’t be such a jerk about it, you know, since it was your mistake that lead to it.
Maybe you do belong over at MLive after all.
I think he just meant in relation to the first mind-boggling comment

And sorry for a whole post in the subject line
i know that’s annoying.
While we're on the subject
The Tigers led MLB with an .801 OPS versus groundball pitchers in 2011. Miguel (.355/.464/.605), Victor (.356/.433/.558), Delmon (367/.387/.600), and Jhonny (.324/.377/.505) all did good work against GB pitchers.
I can't remember
When is the ‘moment of silence’ scheduled for Iorg?
Was it at 6 o’clock on the 5th, or 5 o’clock on the 6th?

Forgot to add
I hear DD himself will be there to deliver the eulogy. Something about “an All-Star in my mind, and really … isn’t that all that matters?”

He slugged .611 in Spring Training last year
It’s still too early to give up on Cale. He struck out in only 23.3% of his PAs in AAA last year which is his lowest rate at any level as a professional. For calibration, Austin struck out in 27.1% of his PAs last year. At the very least, people should stop referring to CI as K-large.
I think that was your invention, no?
Yer killin’ me.
I wonder if his middle name starts with an “S”? If so, we need to deal him to Miami.

Cale Garth Iorg
Would be CGI. You can only make up a swing like that using CGI?
Eh … it’s a stretch.
Justin can now let the fungus grow back on his shower shoes.
well, Iorg was injured
but I don’t expect him to turn into a star or anything. I think when healthy he’ll eventually find the major leagues with some team as a backup infielder.

The rest of the post is rock solid.

LOL!
Trade Cabrera to Phillies for Roy Halladay and Cliff Lee. Trade Scherzer, Porcello Raburn and Inge to the Braves for Martin Prado and Dan Uggla and sign FA Prince Fielder! LOL! LOL! This utter foolishness makes more sense that this fool’s post!
Of course that made sense

I didn't think that a quick post on minor moves would draw this much response.
Glad to see this much interest in early January.
