Justin Verlander's Fastball Flakes are on the shelves
This news has been filtering its way through social media and the Internet for the past few days, but we just received all the details about it today. Justin Verlander's cereal, Fastball Flakes, has hit store shelves. If you don't live in Michigan, never fear, you can order them online as well. Wait, you say. I really like that logo. Can I get it on a T-shirt? Why, yes! Yes you can.
Verlander has coupled with PLP Sports, the folks behind Doug Flutie Flakes, which you might remember from years ago. Verlander flakes are a frosted corn flake, and the limited-edition boxes hold 14 ounces each. They're being sold exclusively at Meijer stores in Detroit, Lansing, Kalamazoo and Grand Rapids. You can also order boxes in packages of two online here for $10. There is also a T-shirt available for $15. The combo pack is $19.
This isn't an advertisement, though. So why am I trying to sell you on going out and buying some?
PLP states:
Justin will be donating 100 percent of his proceeds from the cereal to the John D. Dingell VA Medical Center in Detroit and to the VA Ann Arbor Healthcare System. The facilities serve almost 800,000 veterans living in Detroit and Ann Arbor areas. Justin is a proud supporter of the men and women who serve our country. He started Verlander's Victory for Veterans Foundation as a way to benefit the Veterans in Michigan.
That is a wonderful cause. It's great to see it.

Not just in those markets
For anyone living in the Tr-Cities, I saw them a couple days ago at the Meijer in Essexville
hmmm
I’m in Midland and shop at Meijer often. Usually skip the cereal aisle. I may wander down to see if they have them.

Apropos of nothing...
“Fastball Flakes” would also be a FABULOUS collective name for the entire bullpen of relievers. :)

Flakes
Do we have any relievers that AREN’T flakes? Valverde, Coke, Benoit, Al-Al…does anyone know if Dotel is flaky? I feel like he seemed flaky when he pitched for the White Sox…
I think it is almost a requirement for relievers.
Makes it easier to deal with the stress, I think. :)

Finally
A fast shampoo(you don’t have to rinse and repeat)that GIVES you dandruff.
Getting tired of all those young, lithe womens bothering me. Maybe a few flakes on the shoulder will make ’em think twice.
Yeah … that’s the ticket.

Fastball flakes sounds like debris flying off a triple-digit heater.
Pour some milk on that and put that in my body!

Colors
Those t-shirt colors look more Mets than Tigers.

Hmmm, do they have them at the Meijer around the AA/Ypsi area?
If so, I’ll def be picking them up… Might stock up and buy bulk just so I can have a bowl every time JV pitches.

I'm a vegetarian... Otherwise I'd probably eat JV's meal every time he pitched :D
