MLB.com reports that Joel Zumaya abandoned his mound session early today due to pain.
FORT MYERS, Fla. -- Twins right-hander Joel Zumaya left his throwing session early on Saturday with an apparent right elbow injury.
Zumaya, facing live hitters for the first time this spring, exited his bullpen session after about 15 pitches and walked off the field with head trainer Rick McWane.
Zumaya, who declined to speak to reporters, is scheduled to get an MRI exam on Sunday, according to Twins manager Ron Gardenhire and general manager Terry Ryan.
The story has more, including quotes from Ryan.
"Obviously, he felt something that was discomforting, so he came off, which was the right thing,"
It's not polite to make jokes about anyone's injury, so we'll refrain from that. However, you had to expect Zumaya would have something come up, based on his time in Detroit. It's unfortunate, but that's just the way it is.
