As out-staters know, you may or may not get these games on your affiliated stations. (I know I don't get them in Marquette).

ETA: Per the link on tigers.com, the opposing teams will have MLB.TV broadcasts for several other games. So take a look at that if you're making plans to watch.

I will be at the March 17th game

So listen for me on the radio!

Haven’t decided what other games we are going to yet.

If its like last year

Almost all of them will be. Even the ESPN games.

I think he was just asking about spring training

but yeah, that was really annoying when Fox did that last year. Hopefully they’ve straightened that situation out for this year

Did we really just sign Prince Fielder? Holllllllllly sh*t.

It has to do with the National TV contract between MLB and Fox

They black out all other games in all markets when they’re shoving those Saturday games down our throats.

I understand this

and don’t like it at all.

Did we really just sign Prince Fielder? Holllllllllly sh*t.

The only thing to understand

Is that FOX is destroying any competition during their broadcasts to maximize ratings, thus raking in more money from sales of commercial spots. All greedy business practice, no regard for actual baseball or its fans.

Their contract is up after the 2013 World Series, so here’s hoping it’s renegotiated to be a model that takes into account the ever increasing internet viewership. A la carte television subscriptions are on the horizon anyway.

Nice!

can’t wait for that first game on ESPN on the 14th

Prince Fielder effect?

Or past due credit for winning the division last year and being the presumptive favorite in the AL Central this year?

Eat 'em up, Tigers!

March 9 and 10

I am going down this year for the 1st time. On March 10 I have second row behind home plate seats! To bad that one is not televised!

Can't wait for spring training!

Can’t come soon enough

Sirius Radio/Detroit Tigers

IS this a good option to hear the games on the radio, it would be mostly the sole reason for getting this radio service….

YES!

I’ve had XM for 8 years now, and the only reason I got it was to listen to baseball games and what is now channel 89, mlb radio. You can listen to all the games. although you only get Jim and Dan for home games. You can listen to ALL mlb games, too, which made for a nice ride up to Michigan from NC this last summer when I left at 11 PM and could hear the Indians on the west coast. As I said, it’s about all I listen to in the car and I think it’s worth the price.

OF course, I also have the mlb.com package and At Bat on my phone, so that tells you where I’m coming from. As someone who doesn’t have cable, I think my money is well spent.

Is Sirius portable

I mean, Siriously, can you bring it in your car, into your house, to the beach, etc?

You can get a radio that is.

I just have it in my car since I have everything else.

I've gotten the MLB radio in the past for spring training games

but it comes in handy on those Saturday black out games as well. Otherwise, I have DirecTV. I could get MLB.TV on the internet and save some money, I guess.

I usually get it for the internet

That way I can watch the game on my laptop in the living room while my wife is watching whatever crappy reality show is on. It also works for the radio feeds while at work (the video is blocked on the work comps).

I was planning on turning my Sirrius back on for the MLB station, but didn’t know they actually broadcast all the games. Do you need to get a specific MLB package with Sirrius or is it part of the general package?

by wilsonm24 on Feb 9, 2012 3:13 PM EST up reply actions

It's part of the basic package

You don’t have to pay anything extra. That’s only for the NFL (those greedy bassards)

Great

The hour drive home on day game days just got much better!

by wilsonm24 on Feb 9, 2012 9:16 PM EST up reply actions

Yup. It's great for a backup for crappy reality TV

I live in Minnesota, so my only way to get my fix is the Internet. I like the radio cause if I had the TV, I’d be divorced and eating Spaghetios. Good or Bad.

I love listening to Dan. Ernie was an icon; The “Voice of Summer” for a lot of fans of a different generation. I love listening to Dan. He is the “Voice of Summer” for me. I wish there was a way that I could watch the game and listen to Dan and Jim. I’m so pumped for spring training!!!!

I don't know what the broadcast delay's are

but you could probably open up the video and mute the audio and then in another window/tab open up the radio and listen to the audio from that. there could also be a problem of having two sessions logged in at the same time (even though they are on the same computer).

by wilsonm24 on Feb 10, 2012 11:03 AM EST up reply actions

Even if it was only a few seconds off, it would be frustrating.

Now if I moved to Michigan, I could watch the game muted on TV and listen to the radio. That would work just fine.
