Clete Thomas hit a home run off former teammate Ryan Perry, and helped lift the Detroit Tigers to an 11-7 victory against the Washington Nationals. Thomas had two hits for the game, and to be fair the home run was more of a cherry on the sundae. But competing for a spot on the Tigers' bench, Thomas needs every success he can get. He had 3 RBI for the game.
The Tigers' record, lest you be left wondering, improved to 12-1-3.
Batting in the cleanup spot, and driving people batty despite the fact this is spring training and caring about such things requires far too much energy for me to bother, Don Kelly went 2-for-3.
On the pitching end of things, Duane Below suffered a bit of a stumble: He allowed three runs in two innings of work. The Twitterati thought the pair of fifth-inning doubles he allowed were wind-aided, but I don't know. In any case after the doubles he struck out the next three batters. Doug Fister struck out seven in four innings. Only one of his runs allowed was earned.
... Oh and Bryce Harper had four strikeouts. (Insert Nelson's "ha-ha" here.)
