Miguel Cabrera cleared to return to baseball activities

Stay connected for news and updates

Miguel Cabrera received the news we'd all hoped he would today: that he was cleared to return to action. MLive's Chris Iott reports that Cabrera will do conditioning activities today and return to baseball activities on Wednesday.

Cabrera has been away from the team since last week when he suffered a non-displaced fracture near his right eye when a hard-hit baseball took a bad hop and hit him in the face. He received stitches for the injury and had X-rays the following day that confirmed the fracture.

The Tigers open the season in about nine days when they host the Boston Red Sox at Comerica Park on April 5.
