Detroit Tigers Links: Miguel Cabrera passes test & Austin Jackson learns how to bunt

Mar. 7, 2012; Lakeland, FL, USA; Detroit Tigers third baseman Miguel Cabrera (24) throws to first base as pitcher Jacob Turner kneels to get out of the way in the first inning against the Atlanta Braves at Joker Marchant Stadium.

Miguel Cabrera passes the third base test; Austin Jackson learns "the art" of bunting; and Jose Canseco is bat sh** crazy (like we needed anymore evidence). These stories and more in today's Morning Prowl.

Thursday's Tigers postcard: Miguel Cabrera passes big test at 3B -- The Detroit News, Tom Gage
He also stole a base yesterday. So, there's that. The verdict is in: He's just a damn good ball player.

Tigers' Austin Jackson is taking time to learn art of bunting -- Detroit Free Press, George Sipple
Call me crazy, but this seems like something Austin Jackson should have "learned" back in -- oh I don't know -- t-ball. I realize learning to bunt, and learning the "art" of bunting are two different things. But, c'mon.

Detroit Tigers GM Dave Dombrowski: People will be shocked when they see how well Brandon Inge is playing at 2B --, Justin Rogers
"Dombrowski has been blown away by Inge's seamless defensive transition and said it looks as if he's been playing second base for the past 10 years." No comment.

Game 5: Tigers remain unbeaten -- Beck's Blog, Jason Beck
I will be very disappointed if the first game they lose in spring training is the game I'm going to Saturday. That is all.

Positional Power Rankings: Center Field -- FanGraphs Baseball, Wendy Thurm
Continuing on with the FanGraphs positional power rankings is center field. The Tigers finished 20th, which seems about right. Detroit doesn't really have a solid backup center fielder and Austin Jackson was missing the hitting component of the equation last season.

Around the AL Central:

No restrictions: Mauer, Morneau back in lineup --, Rhett Bllinger
Joe Mauer and Justin Morneau played in back-to-back games for the first time this spring. Do you think they're both finally healthy? I'm convinced Mauer will be. But I'm never too sure about Morneau.

Adam Dunn And The Essence Of Spring -- Baseball Nation, Jeff Sullivan
"You can go ahead and believe that Adam Dunn is going to bounce back in a big way. Nobody's going to hold it against you." No, dammit. I don't want to believe that.

Yuni As The Symptom -- Royals Authority, Craig Brown
Royals manager Ned Yost recently said that Yuniesky Betancourt will likely start three or four times per week this season. This displeases Brown to a great extent. He tells us why.

Jose Canseco won't play in Mexican Baseball League, denies taking banned substance -- ESPN
The only thing I'm going to say to this is: @JoseCanseco. Please, go. Dude is five kinds of crazy.

There are no Tigers representatives, but some of the finalists seem pretty cool. And then there's a few that don't.

David Price pulled from spring training start after toweling off too hard -- Big League Stew, Kevin Kaduk
I'm sorry, I'd say something here if I could stop laughing long enough to write a coherent sentence. What ... even? Me thinks Price needs to take it down a few hundred notches with the towel drying.

Constructing the Unbeatable Team, Volume 2 -- Crashburn Alley, Michael Baumann
This is a fun hypothetical. If you had to construct the perfect 25-man roster, who would be on it? Check out Baumann's list, and then read his rules to see how you'd formulate your list. But keep in mind, if you lose, you die. So don't screw up. Dun dun dun.
