It was a 7 inning pitcher's duel between the Detroit Tigers' Rick Porcello and the Tampa Bay Rays' Matt Moore on a cold, blustery, sometimes snowy afternoon in downtown Detroit. But the Tigers took control during a 3 run 8th inning rally, giving the good guys another come from behind win, 5-2. The victory removed the Rays from the ranks of the undefeated...where the Tigers remain.

The Rays took an early 3rd inning lead when Rick Porcello issued a 2 out bases loaded walk to Evan Longoria. The Tigers manufactured the tying run in the bottom of the inning. Austin Jackson walked, Brennan Boesch singled him to 3rd, Jackson scoring on Moore's wild pitch.

In the 7th, an unnamed Tigers fan helped the Rays in a big way, interfering with a ground ball down the left field line, giving the uber-slow of foot Jose Molina a gift double. He would come around to score on Desmond Jennings' single, putting the Rays up 2-1. But before you could say, "Bartman'ed," Jackson, who has been absolute dynamite to start the season, took Moore's 2 out, 2 strike pitch deep over the left field wall, tying the game at 2 all.

In the bottom of the 8th, the dynamic duo of Miguel Cabrera and Prince Fielder took over. Cabrera led off with a long double to right center, Fielder followed with an RBI single, giving the Tigers a 3-2 lead. Jhonny Peralta's sac fly and a Gerald Laird single drove in a pair of insurance runs.

As good as Porcello was, and he was damn good, he was stuck with the 4th straight no-decision for the Tigers' starting rotation. Phil Coke tossed a shutout 8th inning to get the win. Jose Valverde shrugged off his opening day struggles to nail down his first save of the season.
