Poor Luis Marte. After a terrific spring training, and building off several appearances with the Detroit Tigers last September, things were going well for the right-handed reliever. That is, until the last game of the Grapefruit League season. Marte left the game against the Blue Jays with an injured lower leg and was soon after placed on the disabled list by the Tigers. Marte's diagnosis was left hamstring sprain.
The Tigers have not announced which player got a "Get Out Of Toledo Free" card. I assume Brayan Villarreal, who also performed fine this spring. But we shall continue to follow this and update you when necessary.
ETA - Per the Free Press, Duane Below will replace Marte. Not confirmed by the team yet, though.
